WEEK 4: DATA VISUALIZATION QUESTIONS

Q1: What did you work on this week?

Gbolahan: I worked on my visualizations. I was able to continue with what I had in mind as well as changing some tiny bits of some of the map layers I was working on to help tell the story in a clearer way. I also decided to find more charts to use to visualize the data by adding bar charts and dynamic sorting.

Jiwon: This is my second time building a dashboard on Tableau! My first ever interaction with Tableau was a demo in 2015, but I never used it personally until I took a SQL class last semester at Bentley University. Since I'm a beginner, this project is really pushing the boundaries for me: I feel more confident with data and communicating key points using visuals.

Q2: What inspired you this week?

Gbolahan: Myself! I had my birthday but I don't celebrate those. However, I tried to look back on my progress over the years and I commended myself for a job well done and urge myself to keep being inspired.

Jiwon: [??HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY GBOLAHAN??]

Last Friday, I saw the news headlines about an arrest warrant issued for Putin over unlawful child deportations. That same day, I met Julia Petryk, who works for the Ukrainian PR Army. She told me that sharing news about child deportation was part of their work, and that they had just received professional recognition for the efforts. I like to use the word 'serendipity' to describe moments like this and incredible women like Julia inspire me.

Q3: Is there anything that you want to do differently?

Gbolahan: I was able to find more information for my dataset by doing research for each of the CEO companies and finding links to their Wikipedia pages to urge people to read more about these amazing women who are doing amazingly well.

Jiwon: In the process of updating my OneDrive, I lost the Tableau file I was originally working on today, which was at least 6+ hrs of progress. I feel confused and frustrated, but I take it as a sign. I like to doodle on paper, and usually it takes several sketches to get the perfect drawing. I will take whatever I liked about my first draft and try to improve it in my next visualization.

Q4: How do you feel this week?

Gbolahan: Good. Happy this project is nearing its project end and I have a strong opinion that in few months/years time when I come back to check this project, I will be very happy that I spent time to contribute to this amazing idea by Jiwon. Thank you for reaching out to me.

Our first call in Feb 2023

Jiwon: Gbolahan and I decided to meet on Friday to publish our visualizations officially and celebrate closing the project next week. Since our first call on February 24, it's been 4 weeks of supportive and exciting collaboration! He was the first person I followed on Tableau Public, so I'm really grateful that he said yes to this International Women's Day project. I really enjoyed reading about his process while logging and especially loved his recent work on Nobel Prize Female Laureates. I can't wait to see his final work for this project!

Q5: Any Inspirations?

Week 5: Conclusion log article will be published next week??!
