I've reached my failure-breaking points & have to learn how to pick myself up.

There were many times I'd reached my failure-breaking point and had no clue what to do.

The first time was after working very hard for 10 years but having zero savings.

With a background in chemistry and biology and no technical or business skills, I felt stuck in a corporate job with no savings.

One morning, stuck in traffic and feeling miserable, I cried in my car.

That moment was a turning point for me.

I realized I had to take control of my life and start my own business.

The second time was when my business started to decline, and I had no idea why.

It was beyond my knowledge limit.

So, I started to look for help.

I needed to learn from someone who had already succeeded.

I had been a tactic guy for years and realized they weren’t sustainable.

I wanted to learn solid business principles instead.

I realized that only people on 50 floors who had endured hardship and achieved high levels of success could teach me these principles.

So, I immersed myself in personal development. I looked up to many mentors who had already succeeded, one of them is Tony Robbins.

A few years ago, I skipped CNY and flew to Florida to attend his Business Mastery event.

It was an amazing experience.

When he moved his teachings online, I started to study his work and the principles he taught.

Here are the five key principles I learned:

1. Feed Our Mind

Be careful about what we consume mentally. Avoid negative news and social media traps. Instead, read and learn from successful people to grow your mind.

I practiced this by signing up for Tony’s program and watching his videos every day.

I also followed many successful entrepreneurs, mentors, and positive friends on social media.

This filled my social media feed with good energy.

2. Strengthen Our Body

Exercise regularly. Our physical health directly affects our mental health. Pushing our body to stay strong and energized boosts our mindset.

Every morning, he plunges into the ice bath pool. He says it trains his body and mind to be resilient.

I didn't do this; probably one day I will.

However, I started my morning by committing to drinking a BIG glass of water and immediately blended and drank my own healthier alkalizer smoothies.

3. Find a Great Role Model

Identify someone who has achieved what we want. Learn from their journey and use their success as a blueprint for our own path.

He looked up to Sir John Templeton, a self-made billionaire investor.

I looked up to him. Haha...

4. Proximity is Power. Surround ourselves with Great People

Spend time with people who are more successful than you. Their influence will push you to improve. By surrounding myself with high achievers, I continuously raised my own standards.

I'm an introvert; mixing with a big group of people often drains my energy.

I also value my time seriously.

So I'm very picky about the events to attend. Lol...

I practice this by adding many positive friends on social media and occasionally meeting with those who can click well after a virtual chat.

5. Pay it Forward

Help others without expecting anything in return. Giving back makes us feel fulfilled and brings positive energy into our lives.

I admit I can’t do and practice this 100% either.

I truly experienced the essence of “paying it forward” when another mentor helped me unconditionally, pinpointing my weaknesses, telling me what to improve, and pointing me in the right direction.

He has been the ex-CEO of publicly listed companies for 14 years, managing over 16,000 employees, and he helps many entrepreneurs (from Tan Sri to startups).

One of the way I pay it forward by organizing business seminars with him, and together, we help many entrepreneurs.

He lives and breathes this principle, and that’s how he changed my mindset to pay it forward as well, regardless of my struggles.

I started to feel the change when i started to practice all the principles above step by step. 1% by 1% every day.

And as Tony always said, "Life will never be the same again."
