I've never had a good relationship with alcohol.

Period.

My dad was an abusive alcoholic who I lost to suicide when I was 11, and I’ve always wondered if substance addiction might be genetic or hereditary in some way or form. I’ve lost count of the friends and family that I’ve upset and offended growing up over the years, the stupid things I’ve done when under the influence of alcohol, and the relationships that I’ve damaged. In all honesty, it took me way too long to come to the conclusion that I’m just not very good at drinking. It’s something I’ve battled with for as long as I can remember.

A couple of years ago I started toying with the idea of an alternative to going out and having a beer. Months of research and hard work later, that dream has finally become real. 

I’m super excited to announce the launch of our new business called Heaps Normal. It’s a non-alcoholic beer that packs all the flavours of your favourite craft brew, but without the alcohol. And boy, have we got the dream team to bring this to life.

Heaps Normal has four Co Founders: 

Andy Miller is our CEO, and brings a wealth of knowledge having previously been Head of Marketing at Young Henry’s.

Benny Holdstock is our Head Brewer, and is responsible for a number of craft beers that are probably already in your top 5.

Jordy Smith is our Brand Ambassador, who will be responsible for spreading the message of what Heaps Normal is all about.

And me.

We’re not against alcohol. Far from it. But we believe there’s a better way to drink. A mindful way to drink, that doesn’t leave you feeling anxious and hungover when you wake up in the morning.
