I've had my eye on you for a while

I've had my eye on you for a while

There’s a beautiful beach in Pembrokeshire with a rock formation that looks like a number 4 from a certain angle. Eight years ago, while I was there, I thought to myself, "I could swim to that rock and explore it." However, I felt it was unsafe and lacked the confidence to try.

Last week, I found myself back at that very same spot, looking out at perfect conditions. This time, with my husband on support duties, I succeeded! It was an incredible adventure, especially enjoying the swim back to shore, riding the waves.

The key takeaway is that whatever you want to achieve in any area of your life—whether in health, wealth, career, relationships, or personal development—you'll achieve more and faster with support.

Conscious Network Design

It's harder to reach your full potential on your own. That's why, when I swam for England juniors and participated in the Olympic trials, I had a coach. That's why presidents and prime ministers have advisors, and musicians have conductors to bring out their best performances.

I encourage you to take a conscious look at who is in your support network and where you might need additional support. In each of the five key areas of life:

  1. Health
  2. Wealth
  3. Relationships
  4. Career
  5. Personal Development

Ask yourself, "Who do I have? Who do I need?"

?

Types of Support

Consider the following types of support:

  • Practical/logistical support
  • Emotional support
  • Accountability
  • Sponsor: Elevates your profile when you are not in the room and opens doors for you.
  • Mentor: Has walked the path you want to walk and can make that journey smoother, easier, and faster.
  • Coach: Unlocks your latent potential to help you show up differently, feel differently, and achieve results that were not conceivable before.

?

Identify and Act

Identify the people who are currently there for you but whom you don't call on enough. Thank them and ask for more support. Also, identify gaps where you need to develop your support network.

You can achieve your goals alone, but life is much more enjoyable as a team sport!
