I’ve gained a world of knowledge
“Reflecting back on my career, some pivotal moments were moments of me stepping outside of my comfort zone. I started in Operations, and that was essentially the only experience I had even coming from my previous company. About one year into my career with Schreiber, I went into Process Excellence Operations, and then into the Sales team. Those experiences have equipped me with more knowledge about myself, as well as our organization.
“As I think about the future of Schreiber, there’s one things that’s assured – change. If we don’t want to be left in the past, we will change and adapt to the markets and customers we intend to serve. We have to be open to the change and be willing to step into the “unknown.”
“That unknown is what led me to my current opportunity. With my role on the Exports team, I saw the potential growth and the dairy market share that is available. I’ve always wanted to live abroad and gain insight and experiences from working and living in another country. When the opportunity presented itself for me to take my U.S.-based knowledge and build upon that during my stint in India, how could I pass it up?
“India is a very unique country. I don’t have the most patience in the world, but when you are now living in a city with 22 million people, things get a little more complicated. I’m learning more to focus on detail and grow my patience levels as things do take more time to get done in India.
“I have two sons, Dallas (5) and Deuce (3 months). Dallas is my road warrior who loves traveling. Everything keeps his imagination and thoughts running. It’s amazing to know that throughout the next few years, he will embrace a new language (he is teaching me some Hindi now) and embrace a completely new culture. He has students in his class from all around the world, and to hear him talk about where they are from and his viewpoint has been exciting.
“To know that my youngest son will basically grow up during the next few years in India is also exciting. He will not be like his brother and be molded by the U.S. as his first country. India will be the country that he knows and sees every day.
“For my family, this experience will be something we will never forget and will take with us personally and professionally.”
