I've Done it Again

I've Done it Again

Someone needs to kick me in the shins.

Hard.

I’m once again launching a thing which doesn’t already exist.?

I mean, I have built it (sort of).

Only it’s innovative.?

To explain, my language holidays are hard to promote because they slip between language education and tourism.?

I work hard communicating how the transformation of using English across REAL conversations makes the difference between feeling like an English learner and an English user.

I need to work this hard because few people are aware that holidays like mine are possible.

They equate investing in their English with spending time in a classroom not exploring.

My new thing is an English 'challenge' to take on holiday.

The inspiration is meeting so many people travelling to improve their English who are disappointed in the amount of English practice they are getting.

They underestimated how hard it is making conversations with strangers, how different spoken English sounds - or how much confidence it takes.

My solution is an English challenge which guarantees 15 minutes of conversation practice per day while you are on holiday, about your holiday - wherever you are.?

So not only are you actively practising, you are also thinking about what to say and how to say it throughout the day.

And it's fun (of course), you need to collect things, imagine things, try things.

Pocket Immersion! (Learn more )

I am VERY excited about this.

My product takes the stress out of relying on strangers, but it has all the transformative power of speaking while travelling.

It’s another way to share my skills (creativity and imagination) to help people love their English.? (It feels aligned!)

But I’m 5 years into this business.

I’ve long stopped believing that great ideas sell themselves, and time and time I stumble up against the big hairy beast that hates me: marketing.?

And if you are a creative person, you might recognise this mix of trepidation and pride:

?? You’ve made a thing - great, it’s what we live for.

?? It cost a lot of brainpower to produce (you’re tired now).

?? You still need to promote it and sell it. (Which requires a clear head and energy you don’t currently have).?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on my new product.

?? Do you like the idea?

?? Could you help me by sharing it with your community?

(If you can, I'll give your people a super deal!)

Thanks for reading this week's news from Blue Noun .

This weekend, I’m off to clear my head by watching the dolphins play in the Murray Forth (Inverness).

They make everything better.
