During the past month, the market has buzzed with “regulatory optimism” and “DeFAI”.? Optimism grew around the pro-crypto stance of Trump’s administration, with plans to reduce regulatory barriers and key appointments like Paul Atkins as SEC Chair and David Sacks as “Cryptocurrency Czar”.

The president also launched his own memecoin $TRUMP, which gained a huge amount of attention and trading activity. While the overall AI sector market cap has contracted from its peak, the DeFAI narrative is gaining attention as seen through sector trading volume.

Web3 Gaming Trends?

Web3 gaming reflected a maturing ecosystem characterized by innovation and more sustainable development practices. Despite a 36% decline in new game announcements in 2024 compared to the prior year, the industry saw an 84% reduction in projects exiting the space.

Blockchain gaming maintained its position as a leading driver of decentralized technology adoption, supported by strong engagement in popular genres like RPGs, casual, and action titles. Distribution platforms such as Telegram and the Epic Games Store played a pivotal role in increasing accessibility and user acquisition. Notably, Telegram captured 21% of new Web3 game launches, leveraging its broad user base and bypassing traditional app store restrictions.

??Ecosystem competition remained robust, with Immutable, Arbitrum, and Ronin lead in game adoption, while Layer.2 and Layer 3 blockchains accounted for a growing percentage of gaming projects. Epic Games Store’s inclusion of 81 Web3 titles further underscored the mainstream potential of blockchain gaming.
