??ITUC Newsletter – February 2025?? ?? Stand with the working people of Myanmar and Ukraine
International Trade Union Confederation - ITUC
The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) is the global voice of the world’s working people.
This year we will continue to work For Democracy That Delivers for working people?: fair taxation, climate action for a Just Transition, fair trade rules, and peace and common security. We will also be building pressure for a legal standard at the ILO Labour Conference in June to protect the rights of all platform workers. A central principle of trade unionism is that all workers, regardless of their status, receive equal protection, a living wage and social security benefits.
This month marks the anniversaries of the military coup in Myanmar and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We pay tribute to the trade unionists who, despite the personal risks they face, continue to work for freedom and democracy in their countries.
Finally, this month we will be at the UN Commission on Social Development, advocating for action to deliver the New Social Contract to reverse the trend of unbalanced globalisation that has led to rising inequality.
