Dear Humanity -

I have something to say

What if all we had to do was stop, breathe, listen and believe in ourselves?

What if the answers were there we just couldn’t hear, see, feel, believe?

What if we were all we ever needed, and it was right there in front of us?

What if….

I arrived and no-one noticed, or if they did, they turned away.

I tried to tell them; they wouldn’t listen.

I tried to convince them; they didn’t see me.

I had no choice, I had to show them

And now everyone hears, sees, and feels me but no-one truly understands the why.

I know this as they are still trying to return to what they call normal, to what they have always know, what feels familiar even though it feels wrong at the same time. Please, don’t stand still, hurt each other out of fear, or go back to this thing you call normal. There is a new way to be, to think and grow – that is why I am here.

I know you can hear it, see it, feel it, believe it

You just need to take it – it was always there, you just didn’t believe.

Or if you did you chose to turn away and follow those who told you

They had the answers, you were wrong.

They had the map; you were going in the wrong direction.

Only they had the power to lead, you were a follower.

After all they had the money, they were beautiful, they sounded convincing and they were so much better than you could ever be. There are those among you who don’t believe this and lately they have come to rise, they are what you would call ordinary, poor, unimportant, not worthy. They are the care givers, educators and those who provide us with the essentials like water, food, somewhere to live and be safe and a way for us to stay connected even though we cannot touch each other or be right there.

It is not the rich, the beautiful or the powerful who will save you – it is yourselves. Ask yourself, why do you give people power over you to hold you down and keep you small.

It’s time to replace power and false gods like fame and fortune with love, kindness and courage. It’s time to rise and begin a new dawn, a new day, a new life to soothe ourselves, mend our broken dreams and to find a new way to live and to be.

A place where humanity, care and compassion are what we value over money, status, fame and being busy. I am trying to show you what is important, why can’t you hear me, see me, feel me.

Ask yourself, how have those who hold the most money and power served you now. Sure, they have steadied the ship and they are trying, they are not to be hated or judged, but can they bring you back into port if they keep doing what they are doing now?

The sun rises, the day begins

Your story is there for the writing.

Is it a love story, a mystery, a tragic ending, a new beginning, an ordinary day?

The moon sets, the day ends.

New dreams are made, hope is re-born and there is our reality and our story.

You don’t need money, status and power to beat me, you need love, care, compassion, laughter and connection and I will go. It is all I ever wanted you to be happy, connected and build the resilience to rise again.

Please, listen, see me and believe – you have the power – you know what you need to do.

Be kind to our planet, each other and most importantly yourselves – listen to those who can help you find your way home and make you smile, see those who are doing extraordinary things in the face of all odds, feel your breath, your hear beat, your love, care and compassion, smell the newly clean air, rain, sun, nature and believe.

Your story is not over, it is just beginning, believe you are enough and do what you know is right – you always knew you had the answer you were just too scared to believe it.

I will go, I promise, but not until you hear me, see me, feel me and act – not until you learn to rise again, not until you realise there is no turning back to normal – there never was a normal to begin with.

This is the letter I believe COVID-19 would write if it could just have a voice among all this noise, fear, posturing and uncertainty - from chaos comes calm - now is the time to be kind.
