It's NOT about you...it's about your Reader!

It's NOT about you...it's about your Reader!

FOR YOUR ATTENTION

Your Business is NOT about YOU - it's about your customer...same goes for your Book!

It's for your Reader!

Let me explain...

There have been several posts in one of the large women's business groups over the past weeks with a recurring theme:

The post writer started a business with the intention to serve/offer something 'different'.

This 'different' is either intended to show there is more than the 'standard' and what everyone else offers or it is intended to be different from others so that there is not competition.

I fully 'get' the reason behind being 'different' but the number one principle for ANY business is to offer what the client/customer is looking for.

In my time in Marketing and specially with my own Marketing Agency, Stickybeak Marketing, I've seen people over and over starting a business because they have a 'good idea' only to find not so long after they've started that this 'good idea' is really NOT that good...

...because customers do not find that idea good and so they have to fold their business when there is a lack of customers and sales!

Do you 'get' it?

This very same principle applies for writing your book.

You can write your book exactly the way YOU like, and by that I mean you start writing, then you might ask a few people to read it to get their opinion, you may get some suggestions for adjustments, you may not.

At this point in time you may have chosen a title for your book and you made sure it's 'different'.

Next you take your book to have it edited, or you take it straight to have if published and the publisher edits your book.

Let me explain what happens:

1.- An editor will focus on your use of English, grammar, mistakes and perhaps if the sequence of what you've written about makes sense.

The editor will NOT edit or look at if your book topic and book title are what readers want!

2.- When you use a publisher who also edits your book you may find your book title will change to something that might be considered of 'public interest' at the time of writing but your book topic and the title are still NOT what YOUR readers want...

and here is why:

Neither an editor nor a publisher will KNOW your business or your clients so they cannot possibly help you there to get your book title in line with your readers.

And neither an editor nor a publisher will ASK you about your readers in a way that you'll be able to use your book to gain a return from your book BIGGER than merely book sales.

Here is what I mean and why that is important:

When you write your book because you've always wanted to write one or because you think it's time to write one and you spend time and resources on writing, editing and publishing without aiming for results...

...you will NOT get results!

People who get my help always aim for results with their book.

Working with me, the first thing I'll do is ask about your business, your current clients and your current messaging.

Then you choose the type of results you wish to achieve with your book and you'll write your book, chapter by chapter to achieve those results.

For example, I wrote my first book to become known as the first choice to help business owners train their staff and achieve loyal, excited and performance oriented employees.

Writing my book with that outcome in mind, the result was that I made $25,000 in the very first week of publishing.

My second book resulted in getting around four new website contracts a month and at the time that was approx $10,000 each month in addition to other Marketing Services.

My goal with every client is to identify their particular area of Expertise and to highlight that in their book with a clear, specific result in mind which might be something like what I did or it might be to get more clients taking their offer more easily, like, without long sales calls, or it might be to simply attract MORE clients!

If you want to write a book and create results from the time and resources you spend on writing, editing and publishing, with my help you ALSO get a Marketing Strategy that serves you when you launch your book and keeps serving you when you promote yourself and your expertise with your book.

I'm accepting new clients right now, and if you're interested, the next step is to send me a PM and let me know that you're interested.

We'll have a quick chat to see where you stand with respect to what you're thinking you want to write about and the results you want to achieve with your book.

I'm looking forward to 'meeting' you on messenger.

Completely agree - its such an important marketing lesson - does your audience actually want what you're offering!

It is hard to market a new idea. Mark Twain wrote, 'History doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes." For instance, with our Unique Art Finishes all I am doing is using art and technology to bring back there age-old importance of Art in Architecture. Nothing new, we have just forgotten what art really does for the home. So, yes, it's in the marketing and the wording which takes time for one to develop that language. Years, actually : )

As a business owner, it is key to understand your customers. It is interesting to realize how the same concept applies to a book. Clearly, the book is about the customer journey, which requires some prior research into the minds of the people that will potentially buy the book.
