Last month, I had the incredible opportunity to speak at TedXChelsea Park. The theme this year was “Unconventional Journeys”.The event showcased the broadest spectrum of voices, including model and transgender rights activist Teddy Quinlivan, US Air Force pilot Heather Penney and other creators and visionaries from all areas of thought, work and life.
Research finds that women are communal, democratic, innovative, collaborative, transformational and supportive. We have been raised to believe that if we work hard, we can do anything. And clearly from this research, women have the capability to take on the world. So, what’s holding women back at work? Please watch my talk and in under ten minutes, you will find out why workplaces don’t work for everyone in the same way, what invisible barriers women face at work and why gender equality is the best thing to ever have happened to men!
Please like, comment, and share my talk with your online community and even your inequality moment! Hope you enjoy and thank you so much for your support!

From Lean In to #Girlboss to Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office, women are told that if they want to succeed at work, they need to fix themselves. Lean in, don't lean out. Be a fighter and a rule-breaker to be a #Girlboss. Stop being nice and start acting like a man. As a gender equality expert and Head of The Global Innovation Coalition for Change at UN Women, I’m calling BS on books and programs that tell women they need to change to be successful. Based on more than 16 years of research and exclusive interviews with major companies and thought leaders, "The Fix: Overcoming the Invisible Barriers that are Holding Women Back at Work" reveals the truth behind what's holding women back at work and provides a clear road map for women to navigate the flawed workplace to find success on their own terms.
Lastly, in case you haven’t already, tune into The Fix, my weekly podcast sharing stories of women and men who are taking action and innovating to advance equality in the workplace and beyond. We’ve featured entrepreneurs, innovators, thought leaders, academics and celebrities including Sofia Vergara, Arianna Huffington, Abby Wambach, Diane von Furstenberg and Sarah Jessica Parker to name a few.
On each episode, listeners can discover how to create workplaces that work for all women — and take steps to build a gender equal world.
