It's not you... it's your environment

It's not you... it's your environment

All too often, when faced with unwanted symptoms, whether it be aches and pains, fatigue, mood swings, anxiety, or anything else that might pop up, we are quick to blame ourselves, or our bodies.

But, the truth is, our bodies are not well adapted to many aspects of modern living:

  • long work days or shift work
  • chronic stress, or being unable to switch off
  • highly processed and nutrient poor diets
  • sedentary lifestyles
  • household and environmental toxins
  • chemicals from personal care products or makeup
  • lack of natural light
  • urban environments

...I could go on, but you get the picture.

In order to bring our bodies (and minds!) back into balance, we need to learn to listen to the signals that our body is sending us so we can support our body's natural processes, instead of working against them.

Embracing a few healthy lifestyle habits, can have a huge impact on our overall health and wellbeing, while ditching the self blame can be a huge mindset shift.

You can start today, by committing to 1 or 2 of these daily practices:

  • be in bed by 10pm
  • move your body for at least 30 minutes each day
  • spend time in nature whenever you can
  • reduce the amount of chemicals in your personal care products
  • switch to more natural household cleaners
  • start a mindfulness practice to help reduce stress levels

While these activities can often seem like they are too simple to bring about significant changes to health, their power comes from consistency and by restoring balance to our daily lives.
