It’s not WHAT you think, It’s HOW you think in the ‘New Normal’

It’s not WHAT you think, It’s HOW you think in the ‘New Normal’

Greetings from The Keynes Centre,

Operating in the emerging, but as yet unknowable, ‘new normal’ world will require new ways of thinking to generate the new ideas we will need. Relying on old ways of making sense of the world will not serve us well in the one in which we will be living.

Moving on from how we think today is not easy.

That is because we all have deep-down senses within us ofhow the world works’. These are the fundamental assumptions and the foundations of our thinking across all our personal experiences.

They are, however, ‘silent shapers’ of our thinking’ and we are mostly blind to their place, nature, and role within our thinking.

This ‘blind spot’ hampers our abilities to operate effectively in a complex world that demands continuing development of how we think throughout adulthood.

We must release ourselves from these assumptions to be open to change, to growing how we think, and to enlarging our minds for generating the new ideas we will need.

Continuing ‘development’ in adulthood requires releasing ourselves from the limits currently imposed on us by the ‘silent shapers’ which currently have us, so we are, in effect, thinking through others, rather than thinking for ourselves.

We want to think for ourselves and so we need to look at how we think.

Although how we think governs our conduct in all realms of our life – from our everyday behaviour to making judgments and expressing them publicly as opinions – we remain mostly unaware of the ‘silent shapers of our thinking’ unless we intentionally undertake to examine them in a deliberate way.

The ‘Assumptive Dive' Workout is directed at showing how to think about the sources of beliefs that silently shape our behaviours towards key matters in our personal, professional, and public lives.

The purpose of The ‘Assumptive Dive' Workout is to provide a catalyst, the opportunity and mental space, for intentionally and deliberately exploring your implicit, hidden assumptions about ‘how the world works’ that governs decision-making and conduct in our private and public activities.

This Workout is open to all and the only qualification for participation and benefitting is a deep interest in having greater awareness of how we think about ‘how the world works’ shapes our conduct and behaviours in everyday situations.

And you can participate in The ‘Assumptive Dive' Workout from the ease and in the safety of your home this Autumn.

This Workout will be conducted entirely online over four months, in seven one-and-a-half hour virtual sessions at fortnightly intervals, beginning on October 20, 2020.

Places are limited to ensure all participants have the opportunity to participate actively in this developmental experience.
