It's what you do when nobody is looking that counts
In every workplace there are many different personalities and archetypes that make it a rich tapestry of strengths, weaknesses, productivity and culture. There are ideas people, who have grand ideas and there are those who shoot the ideas people's ideas down and always say 'no'. There are those that stay silent, quietly processing the situation and just at the point of consensus interject and offer incredible value at just the right moment. There are hot heads that fly off the handle, social butterflies and gossips, hard workers and shirkers; big personalities that dominate the airwaves and those who just get on with the job at hand in a world of their own. There are no rights and wrongs, just people, who impact the working life of other people.
There are also people with passion. They come to work everyday, with a smile and a winning attitude, there to do a great job and are always willing to help others around them. They are special people who do the right things, in the right way, for the right reasons - just because it is the right thing to do. They don't seek attention, claim successes and they don't pipe their own horn. I love these people and they are who I strive to be.
This is a tribute to the people with passion in every office, who do the right thing quietly when nobody is looking - simply because it is the right thing to do. In my office there are a number of people who come to mind and this is my shout out to them:
? To Kuba who brings up the boxes of fruit, papers and milk without being asked, who treats the office to biscuits just because its a nice thing to do and thoughtfully produced an International Womens' Day party for his colleagues.
? To Hannah who observes the needs of others, and moves quickly to help in every situation, wherever she is.
? To our CFO, William and our senior management, Belinda and Tessa who aren't too important to help with the most menial of tasks in a time of need.
? To Aideen, Katy and Lauren who keep an keen eye, steer a straight course and provide moral support to the crew when navigating choppy waters.
? To Stephanie, Guy, David and former colleague, Gill - who are the best of the best, team players, who don't give up until the job is done, retain a great sense of humour and make it a great experience along the way.
There are many more people with passion at RSM, and it is to these people and those in other offices around the world, who always do the right thing when nobody is looking, that I salute, with thanks.
