It’s Vital to Stop Evil and to Tackle Astray / Ignorant; Re. Surah Ta-ha:

It’s Vital to Stop Evil and to Tackle Astray / Ignorant; Re. Surah Ta-ha:

  1. Introduction:                Quran & Sunnah has given adequate guidance on each and every aspect of life. Reference to subject, Allah SWT says, ‘And let there be such a group among you, that they may call towards goodness and command what is just and forbid evil. And the very same attained to their goals’ (3/104). Similarly, Prophet Muhammad SAW said, ‘Whosoever of you sees an evil, then change it with your hand; and if you cannot, then change it with your tongue; and if you cannot, then at least with your heart — and that is weakest of faith (Sahih Muslim).
  2. Evil and Men:              Evil and astray men have always been in this world and they will continue to remain in all times to come.
  3. Our Responsibility:     In light of shared verse and Hadith (above), it is our duty to make an effort in humility to fulfill the responsibility. But it is necessary remember that we should not become arrogant, while carrying-out this process. The following verse may guide us, “Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good admonition and argue with them in a way that is best. No doubt. Your Lord knows well who has strayed from His way and He knows well those who are guided” (16/125).
  4. An Example:                Allah SWT has shared an example in Al-Quran to demonstrate that what should be the approach. In following verse Allah SWT is directing Prophet Musa AS and Prophet Haroon AS to advance towards Pharaoh Ramesses II (or Firawn), who was an oppressor of their times.
  5. Surah Ta-Ha, verse no. 43:            “You both go to Firawn, undoubtedly he has rebelled” (20/43).
  6. Humility and Softness at Heart:    As mentioned above and also in verse below; Allah SWT tells us that we have to approach such characters with humility and kindness. The above is essential, because we all are humans and vulnerable, hence we should always seek for HIS forgiveness.
  7. Surah Ta-Ha, verse no. 44:            “Then speak to him gentle words: haply he may be mindful or he may have some fear” (20/44).
  8. Power and Authority:           Such people are very powerful & authoritative and we may have apprehension that they will harm us. A similar fear was expressed by both Prophets as well.
  9. Surah Ta-Ha, verse no. 45:            “They both submitted, 'O our Lord! 'Undoubtedly, we fear that he may commit excess against us or come before us with mischief” (20/45).
  10. No Fear, If Allah SWT is With Us:          The fear is natural, but Allah SWT is encouraging and HE wants us to make good deeds by following the straight & truthful path. Indeed, HE hears and sees everything.
  11. Surah Ta-Ha, verse no. 46:            “Allah said, 'fear not, I am with you Hearing and Seeing” (20/46).

May Allah SWT give us courage to stop prevailing evils and to daringly approach astray / ignorant (Aameen).
