It's Tuesday somewhere right?

Sorry for the late newsletter, we've had some disruptions here at Embedded. The podcast will also be late this week, but we're hoping to have it up by Saturday.I (Elecia) finished up another Classpert cohort which means I have been critiquing projects.There were several musical projects which led me to have many open tabs:

• First is?synthnotes, a repository of information on computer music programming, designed to support the UCSD music course MUS177/MUS267. The course covers basic synthesis algorithms, and typically an applied development environment.
• Mutable Instruments?parts were used in including their Breadboard Friend modules. I don't really understand what is going on here as much as I'd like but the tech notes at the bottom of the left listing are fascinating.
• Electro-Smith?has a collection of small boards (and not-so-small boards) for DSP and music. (Hey, it looks like the founder would be a good guest... hmmm...)
• If you are building your own, one student used Dekrispator (github) for USB MIDI host function on an STM32F4 Discovery Board. That code lets you start with the fun part of making noise instead of the quotidian drudgery.
• Once in the land of sound, you can get some good algorithms at?musicdsp.org?or you can really dive in with?The Art of VA Filter Design?(book pdf).
• Finally, for a good, well-documented, you-can-do-it-yourself project, one of the students, Peter Andrew built a sampler-sequencer and is willing to share his?report,?code,?demo, and?critique.?

• Believe it or not, C is still under active development. Get a preview of some new features destined for C23, by Daniel Lemire.
• You probably know about the integer types defined in stdint.h, but are you aware of the fast and least types? Niall Cooling?at Feabhas has a great discussion of those and some reasons why picking the smallest int type?for your functions may not be the fastest option.
• A thorough tutorial on setting up on device testing using CMake and CTest?from?Erich Styger at MCU on Eclipse.
