It's a tough time to be a political leader - let's thank them as the signs of brightness appear!

It's a tough time to be a political leader - let's thank them as the signs of brightness appear!

It is awesome to see the community being so respectful and thankful to the large numbers of people who are working so selflessly and courageously during this period - healthcare professionals, the wonderful people in the transport industry, the tremendous people serving us in shops, our brave police and the other people involved in security. There are so many!

I'd like to add another group to that list.

Our leaders of government are also working exceptionally hard and they, essentially, have a no-win situation.

Let's face it everybody thinks they are an expert with more theories than Pythagaros, and media headlines are invariably short sighted and distorted, some even politically based! (Can you believe that at a time like this? What does it say about the media?)

So, I want to say I reckon our leaders of Government are doing an amazing job.

They are being forced to make big decisions, decisions that impact lives. And not just in saving lives through this pandemic, but in the ensuing economic challenge to follow which in many respects will likely be even bigger.

We need to support our leaders of government during this time.

It's easy to criticise, but there was never a monument built to a critic, particularly those who never had the courage to take on these big public roles.

You see people age in Government, and we are seeing it happen in real time right now.

Thank you to all the great people working under such difficult circumstances.

And it's great to see the brightness on the horizon!
