It's tough running a bus company - and other top business news from Hampshire and Dorset

Running a bus company is an expensive business, as we were reminded when Yellow Buses collapsed and when First Bus said it would be axing all its City Red services in Southampton .

Days after the Confederation of Passenger Transport warned that bus routes could be cut unless the government continued its support for the industry after March, Hampshire-based Xelagroup said it would be axing the services it took over from Yellow Buses.

There was some brighter news, however, when Go South Coast, operator of Bluestar and Morebus, said passenger numbers had bounced back and it did not expect to cut services in Hampshire or Dorset .
