“It’s tough now!” or “There is a lot going on right now!” are answers I frequently get when asking people how they are. I usually ask them “Has it always been tough?” and when they say “No”, I respond “Good, then we know it is temporary”.
When we look at our amazing planet, we note that the same thing has always happened through the ages:
- draught has been followed by rain
- thunder and lightning have been followed by clear, blue skies
- earthquakes have been followed by calm, and
- tough times have been followed by amazing times
When we’re in the middle of “everything” feeling overwhelmed or that it's tough, it can be hard to keep perspective on what is happening. It feels, just like when we were kids, that our feelings in the moment will always stay the same. That means that at this exact moment, there is seemingly no light at the end of the tunnel, peace and quiet, or good times waiting right around the corner.
Good times have always followed after what we perceive as bad times, and to be totally honest, the “bad times” are needed too. To me, that is the perfect opportunity to scrutinize myself. It is usually a friendly reminder that I’m heading in the wrong direction. That it is time for me to rethink something or start something different. Sometimes I insist on holding on to old ideas, which usually means that I have to wait a bit longer on the good times.
Are you having a tough time, or too much going on right now? Could it be an old, entrenched opinion, idea or thought that it is time to give up in order to let in the good times that are right now banging on your door and most of all want to get in.
Good luck!
