It's time for an upgrade
Our values are something we take incredibly?seriously.
They are what define the way we work, how we do business, how we treat people. They keep us focussed and help empower the team to make the right decisions.?
When we started back in 2015, it didn't take us very long to put forward a set of values that fit the business perfectly.?Do Great Things, Have Some Fun & Don't Be a Dick.?They were great for a startup. Cheeky and blunt, they have helped shape the business that we are today. These values helped us decide which people to recruit and identify which suppliers/customers we didn't want to work with.
However, the fledging porky startup brand of 2015 is not the same today as it once was. We're no longer the underdog; we don't make anything on our kitchen table. Snaffling Pig is now the second-largest pork snack brand in the UK, selling over 15 million packets a year, employing 25 people and contributing over £1.5m+ to the UK economy. You could say that we've had to grow up. And with this newfound responsibility, the team has taken the opportunity to relook at our values and work out if they are still?fit for purpose.?It's time to piggin' evolve.
So after much debate, as a team, we've unanimously agreed upon:
Make it Awesome?- A nod to the 90s (we love 90s nostalgia if you can't tell already), everything we do has to be top-notch - nothing but perfection will do. From the way we cook our product to our ingredients; our customer service; how we pay our suppliers, how we make our tea. If it's not AWESOME, we just won't do it.?
Keep it Real -?Another nod to the 90s, our feet are firmly planted on the ground. Unlike many other brands, we will not try to convince our customers that buying our product saves the world. We will do everything we can to make this world a better place by reducing our impact and leaving it a little bit better off. But, we are doing that to help us sleep at night, not because we want to sell more things but because it's the right thing to do.?
Bring the Pun -?We may look like we don't take ourselves seriously, but you'd be wrong as we're a very serious business based on heaps of protocols. Selling food is no laughing matter; we act like every pack is eaten by our Grandad and, therefore, it has to adhere to the highest safety standards product possible. Once we are happy that our product is awesome, we love to laugh and enjoy the ride and, nothing puts a smile on our face like a pun. We dare you to?Bring the Pun.?
What worked at one point in time doesn't mean it works forever. Much like the Flock of Seagulls haircut, it's time to part ways and embrace the new world. Our updated values will guide us in the next stage of our business. It will help us make the right decisions and employ the right people.
We're proud of them, and we're proud of the business we've become.
