It's Time

To my dear friends, colleagues, and business associates.

It may come as a surprise to some of you but after having devoted 45 years in the maritime industry, I have decided to take a pause, and retire from my position as Vice-president, Growth and Development at the port of Montreal.

Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to meet remarkable people, overcome major work challenges, work with incredible colleagues, work for exceptional bosses, and travelled the far corners of the world.

And as I look back on my successes, I pinch myself with the knowledge that during the early part of my career, I worked for one of the most successful shipping lines of the 90’s, having been part an organization that acquired 9 container carriers under the CP Ships umbrella. Following this, I also had the pleasure, albeit brief, and great experience of working for Hapag Lloyd.

This good fortune continued when I joined the Montreal Port Authority in 2008, during the economic crises, and along with my colleagues worked our way through it, and contributed towards 6 consecutive years of record growth, and which would have continued had it not been for the pandemic, and the port strike of 2020.

Suffice it to say that I could not have asked for a more fulfilling and rewarding career, and I would say that one of the main reasons for my success is due to working for, and with, exceptional people, learning from their strengths, and applying them throughout my career.

With that in mind, I end this message with the names of those who gave me the opportunity to succeed, and who had a tremendous impact on me, and throughout my career.

John J. Ryan, Paul Jones, Peter Petsanis, Cully Keane, Bill Newton, Jeremy Masters, Michel Beauregard, Holger Oetjen, Sylvie Vachon.

In closing, as I begin a new chapter, I leave this industry with only fond memories. It has been an exciting journey; I wish everyone good health, and hope that we cross paths again in the not-too-distant future.

Sincerely,

Tony

I said to myself I know this fellow (Applebaum shoes early 70 's) Michel Lefebvre [email protected].
