"Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality..."
Did you know that when Queen wanted to release the single of "Bohemian Rhapsody" in 1975, record executives told them that, at 5 minutes and 55 seconds, it was too long and would never be a hit?
Or that other musicians insisted it would never be played on radio?
Or that critics called it "a superficially impressive pastiche of incongruous musical styles" with "no immediate selling point whatsoever" and "scarcely a shred of a tune among its many parts"?
Of course, it's since become one of rock's most beloved and recognized songs.
Do you have a bold idea that falls outside familiar norms? Good. Keep exploring, experimenting, and playing with it. If enough people push back, you're probably on to something.
As the late composer and music theorist John Cage said, "I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.”

5 年Also of note, they worked on the song in three different studios over and over and over again. They had so many takes that the oxide on the recording tape? wore almost completely off, and you could see right through it. The lesson here is when looking for a new position or learning new skills. you will face many challenges, no's, and obstacles. Sometimes you just have to work through them. Thanks for sharing Dr. Brenner.?
