It's About Time!

How often have we heard this phrase?

"It's about time!"

Oh? Under which set of directives? Who gets to call it? Why? About time for what?

In all fairness, it IS all about time. Time that we use or misuse either usefully or wastefully. It doesn't really matter, unless of course.....

We know EXACTLY how much time we have been allocated, gifted from the moment of our birth and entering this wonderful world. If we knew that, how would our lives be different? Would we love more? Learn more? Work more? What meaning would life have if we could count the minutes remaining in our existence?

Yet that is pretty much exactly what happens each day when we wake up. 1,440 minutes in each day, and we will be awake and doing something for about 1,020 of them, about 71% of those minutes.

One thousand minutes every day! How much is each one worth? Are we getting our money's worth?

What would you trade for any of those minutes that tick off every second and are never (NEVER!) coming back....?

Seems to me that they are priceless. Once we've used one minute up, we have one less. And there is a limited supply based on my observations, 100% of us will not survive.

I'm compelled to fill my minutes with #gratitude. If life were a running stream providing me with water and food, and I KNEW that the stream was about to go dry, I'd be #grateful for every drop of water and scrap of food that came my way (free of charge, of course) because once the supply ceased to be, I would be out of options.

So, life for me is precious above all else. I want to use it carefully, wisely. It's the way I've chosen to utilize my diminishing supply of minutes.

What would you do? What will you do? What are you doing?

Gratitude is a key to so much of life and the joys of living it; thank you Steven Buehler, Mr. Gratitude, for your essay here, and especially for your attitude ??. (As I have no doubt you know so well, it is transmissible and infectious in all the best ways!)
