It's Time To Step Differently

As a GenX Woman with an incredible career both in the corporate world, and now the last 12 years as an entrepreneur, I feel I’m too young to be old and yet I’m too old to be young

There’s so much yet still to do and there’s so much that I have already done

I built the foundations of my career & life completely offline

Which is what developed a finely tuned bullshit meter when it comes to “influence” over substance and a tendency to not filter when I overshare what’s on my mind

Older than the internet, older than Google, older than wireless, older than WiFi on planes

My generation has seen, facilitated and championed and been part SO much change

1984 to 2004 actually felt like 20 years, while 2004 to 2024, feels more like the blink of an eye

And yet time doesn’t stand still, the mirror and body doesn’t lie

The crows feet, the smile lines, the grey hair, the creaky joints and scars

Speak to a life fully lived, rich with memories, milestones, and yes some mistakes, but even so I wouldn’t trade any of it, even though sometimes it was hard

But the undeniable passing of time also serves as a daily reminder

That in generations before us, this “age” was when we as women were considered old, washed up, with our best days behind us

We’ve spent years building careers, raising families or both, at a pace that could be relentless, our low grade stress always there even though often unspoken

But the change we were part of is the change that we still ARE, I grew up in a time when social barriers were broken and walls literally came down and glass ceilings were broken

Looking at the world today - there’s still more to do. It feels that everything I’ve lived has brought me to here, where I’m just getting started in more ways than one.

Yes I’ve done a LOT. And yes they’re good days, great days even ……but my “best” days?

They’re yet to come.

And so while stepping back isn’t even a thought or desire

The call to step differently is undeniable and reigniting that spark and setting my soul on fire

It’s about meaning & purpose and bringing all that I’ve chosen to become into all my endeavors - both in my business and personal life, in a way that aligns with my values and brings joy instead of burnout & stress.

Making money is still important not for all the “things” it can buy, but for all the things doesn’t - yet sure helps facilitate - freedom, time with those we love, experiences, paying it forward, making a difference

With a focus on longevity of mind, body, money & purpose

It’s about redefining prosperity as not just what I have & the money I bring in,

But also a way of being and something that comes from within

But let’s be real here

I also still love and want “the things”,

It's not about slowing down; it’s about shifting gears.

It’s about curating more moments to savor instead of just relentlessly pushing for more

Where days just fly by and always feeling torn

There’s this hunger for authentic connections, for growth that feels aligned with who I am now, not who I was twenty years ago.

And while I’ll never (nor do I want to) lose my GenX “edge”, in this season

I’m curating a path that allows for creativity, intuition, and maybe a bit more heart—something that really speaks to the soul

Of course it can feel risky to take a new road, to pivot or shift, yet, this is the time when we’re at our MOST powerful and potent.

Our collective wisdom and experience is exactly what the world needs with possibility for each of us to create something even more magnificent.
