Is it time to start... The #AI powered side hustle. If so what is the BIG idea?
Dan S?dergren
Inspirational professional keynote speaker / trainer and author about the #FutureOfWork, #Technology and #AI Hire Dan as an inspirational #keynotespeaker / corporate trainer or as your private workshop provider.
Inspired by a couple of people on the internet and by the new power of #GPT4 I decided to let the machine become the CEO of my new idea. A pure side hustle business.
The idea for the business is even yet to be chosen. And to be chosen with ChatGPT as my co pilot. (Microsoft pun intended.)
And this idea generation and choosing of the idea is the subject of this first blog.
IT'S TIME TO START...
As some of you will know. It was my birthday on 14th - the same day GPT4 came out and the same birthday as Albert Einstein!
Who continually talked about time. And time...
Time is my only constraint.
(Ok and money as I only have £1000 to invest in this)
But time is my main one. As I have my full time job with www.YourFLOCK.co.uk the employee feedback platform. And my daughter, and friends and family. And a lovely life that I don't want to sacrifice for money. Or extra money...
So the first prompt I had to give GPT4 was around coming up with ideas for a new side hustle business. Where I only have 5 or 6 hours a week to make it successful.
And from past experience, I knew (as just wrote a book on how to do it) that the prompt you use for the AI are very important too. And that getting the machine to imagine it is something first - gives you better answers so...
THE PROMPT.
"Imagine you are a startup CEO with years of experience and have successfully started companies that made millions of pounds. Advise a new business person looking to make the most profitable business they can with £1000 to invest and 6 hours of work a week. Explain what business you would start and why. And then three steps for them to take today. Give them 3 different business ideas."
THE ANSWER:
"Idea 1: Print on Demand Merchandise Store
Why: Print on demand services require minimal upfront investment while providing a wide catalog of customizable products. With six hours of work per week, you can focus on designs and promotion to make it a profitable venture.
Three steps to take today:
Idea 2: Affiliate Marketing
Why: As an affiliate marketer, you don't need to create your own products or handle customer service. With your £1000, you can focus on creating a content platform and promoting products or services for a commission.
Three steps to take today:
Idea 3: Event and Holiday Planning Service
Why: Event planning is a scalable business that works well even with limited initial resources. Offering tailored event planning services allows you to add a personal touch while building a network and reputation over time.
Three steps to take today:
Remember, all three ideas work well with limited time and investment, but your passion, expertise, and dedication will determine the business's success. Focus on delighting customers and providing a unique, high-quality value proposition."
I didn't like those - so I asked again...
30 seconds later... 3 more ideas. But actually only 2 new ones really. But that was more that I didn't ask for new ideas...
The ideas were...
1. Virtual Assistant Services:
Offer administrative support services to businesses and entrepreneurs remotely, such as managing emails, scheduling appointments, or assisting with research.
Why: The demand for virtual assistance is growing as businesses seek cost-effective administrative support solutions.
2. Blogging and Affiliate Marketing:
Create a blog and generate income through affiliate marketing, sponsored content, or advertisements.
Why: Minimal upfront investment and potential for passive income generation.
3. Content Creation and Selling Digital Products:
Create and sell digital products like e-books, online courses, or graphic designs.
Why: Low overhead costs and scalability, as digital products can be produced and distributed with minimal physical resources.
Conclusion:
Select a business idea that best suits your strengths and interests, while remaining conscious of market demand. Continuously review your progress and adapt your strategies according to the evolving needs of the market. Good luck with your entrepreneurial journey!
Remember all these ideas come from GPT4 - not me...
NOW THIS GOT ME TO THINKING.
That these generic business ideas - are not only things I have tried before - but also things the machine is suggesting to others. So I had a brainwave. (Something the AI can't have yet...) What if the machine knew me a bit better - could it come up with ideas more catered for me?
Not necessarily linked into my values and motivations (but that's not a bad idea for Your FLOCK ) but could it not find out more about from the internet and from my social media presence and THEN give me new business ideas...
The scary thing is that ----- it can. Or can it?
THE PROMPT.
"Imagine you are a skilled business adviser and CEO who has made millions of pounds in profit and had many successful businesses. Considering my background in marketing and looking at my website www.dansodergren.com and Dan Sodergren on twitter and LinkedIn. Remember all these ideas come from GPT4 - not me...
But full transparency - I have done a few of these ideas in my time :) So after an hour or so of different prompts. I look at a lot of the ideas. And I am seeing a pattern. It keeps saying go for digital products. And to be honest, with you with the limited time I have - I concur. So I ask it something different... As ask...

Very true.
So I now have a couple of polls on LinkedIn and Twitter doing that market research for me...
On Twitter - and we have those results.
But this is the scary thing. Which maybe the machine knows...
I already have some digital products out there.
One of them is...
So...
Now my last question for the day was to be about marketing.
As we now know that the new AI side hustle idea might be in:
Content Creation and Selling Digital Products
So my prompt is...
THE PROMPT.
"Imagine you are a startup CEO and marketing person with years of experience and have successfully started companies that have made millions of pounds. These names aim to reflect Dan Sodergren's expertise while emphasizing the innovative nature of the content creation and digital product-selling sector.?Each brand name creates a distinct identity that resonates with potential clients and positions the brand as a leader in the dynamic and highly competitive market.
My semi-conclusion.
I don't know what you think about this last bit. But personally this is where the machine hasn't been that creative. Maybe it's because I have done marketing for a while. Or it's because it was a crap brief (and so my fault) but the ideas here aren't as strong as it's business advice.
I truly believe that was due the weakness of the prompt
And so....
My finally prompt of the day was....
THE PROMPT.
"Imagine you are a super AI prompt writer that gets the best out of Gpt4. What would be the best actual prompts you advise that someone could use. To help them start their own super profitable business with less than £1000 and 6 hours a week. Using gpt4 as their business adviser and coach.?Write down the prompts as prompts they will use in a way that gets the most useful answers from AI to help their goal to create as much profit as possible from their time and resources. By phrasing the prompts in a more specific and detailed manner, you can expect to get more useful and actionable advice from the AI for their business ambitions..."
