it's time to rest.
The quarter one focus for #BlackGirlSeason is rest.

it's time to rest.

tell me that you've felt pressured to finish your vision boards, set your intentions, and/or create your year's resolutions without telling me that you've felt pressured.?

i know i've felt intense pressure (usually self-inflicted) to make sure that my 2023 is planned down to the last detail.?

i have written my intentions, a 2023 dream life narrative, and a letter to myself to open on 12/31/23.?

yet, i still feel like i need to do more.?

when i get that feeling, i know that means one thing: i need rest.?

when i hosted a Black Girl Season pre-launch event, i shared with the ladies that the movement would have quarterly focuses.?

quarter one (January - March 2023) will be focused on rest.?

in reading "Rest is Resistance" by Tricia Hersey aka The Nap Bishop, i was reminded that we can't truly move forward when we are exhausted.?

how can we lead movements like this one, like Maceo Owens 's The ERG Movement , or like Crystle Johnson 's Design Your Soft Life?? , when we are stressed and unrested?

how can we level up in our careers, or even find meaningful work, when our brains are running on fumes and we are lethargic and tired?

how can we be in community with others in healthy, meaningful ways when we are at odds with our bodies and brains??

#BlackGirlSeason is a place of community, a place of encouragement, a place of learning, but also a place of retreat and rest.?

we will learn to rest together.?

stay tuned for the Black Girl Season booklist for Q1 and details on the next audio and video events!?

take care & be well,

shauntelle?

Heavy on rest for Q1. I don’t feel guilty about it! Without proper rest, our visions and intentions can’t takeoff. Since God encourages it, I’m gonna follow His lead. ??????

Rest...it needs to happen physically, mentally, and emotionally. Therefore, we have to make the time, create the space, and prioritize it.

Actively choosing to rest, slowing down, and allowing free pockets in one's schedule require deprogramming and rewiring. We must offer ourselves grace as we become someone different. ??
