It's time for a refresh!

It’s an exciting time for us at Afilias as we continue to enhance and improve our service offerings. Our work in the TLD space is well known, principally perhaps through our longstanding relationship with PIR running .ORG, and the continued success of .INFO as well as our many partnerships across the globe with various ccTLDs. We also support an extensive registrar network.

What may be less familiar to some is the Afilias Managed DNS product that is designed for, and used by, commercial organisations whose web properties are business critical. This product is designed to eliminate DNS outages, service interruptions or general poor performance that has a tangible, and monetary, impact on their bottom line. Partnering with a well established, well functioning and well supported infrastructure provider is key.

Afilias operates one of the world’s largest DNS Anycast networks, boasting a total of over 200 locations, globally spread, with the main PoPs housed in Tier 4 datacentres, all with multiple Tier 1 transit provider connections. For us, the combination of capacity, coverage, power and speed is critical – as it is for our customers.

Whilst the “back end stuff” is of course crucial, the customer experience is equally important and we are in the process of an exciting re-design of the portal and user interface. Now as technologists we have always been great at the “plumbing” behind the scenes, but we are about to unveil a new front end that is equally impressive and functional.

Being still a fairly “newbie” to the Afilias team, I’ve been impressed by the level of collaboration and cross-department interaction that our new front end has inspired. In a relatively short space of time, our team has gone from of a couple of us reviewing the portal, and quickly grown into a diverse group from engineering, development, Q&A, security, business information, marketing, UI/UX and design.

We’ve also engaged extensively with current customers, partners and prospects for their feedback and suggestions and, as you’d expect, we’ve taken all the best suggestions and baked them into the “new” iteration of the product.

The new look is crisp and clear, intuitive and simple to navigate, even for me as a more salesy than tech guy. We are excited with the progress to date, so watch this space over the next few months and get ready to be delighted!
