It’s time to reflect on the Power of the Circle

On the last stretch of #ClimateWeekNYC and #UNGA, 10 Billion Solutions has put together some timely reflections on the “Power of the Circle” to solve humanity’s most acute problems.

What is the real power of the circle? This month marks the 7th Anniversary of the adoption of the #2030Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs), which are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and reduce inequalities.

That is why 10 Billion Solutions wanted to dedicate this blog post to the SDGs, available in English, French and Spanish (links below).

Climate and Sustainability Communications Ride Faster on Wheels, Doughnuts and anything Round

It certainly conjures first and foremost the shape of our Mother Earth, but the universal symbol of the circle can also evoke hundreds of other unrelated images, including those of perfect and hypnotic balance, a pointlessly whirring hamster’s wheel, Sa?sāra or cosmic objects’ eternal revolutions.

In the context of Climate and Sustainability communications though, no doubt that our own round planet gets represented symbolically everywhere, and rightfully so. Thanks to decades of tireless work from scientists, international organisations, passionate individuals and engaged journalism, data, climate models and related climate alerts have built up exponentially.?

Climate change-related disasters are becoming more frequent, cause increasing damage, spare no region of the globe, and their negative effects generally exceed scientists’ stern predictions. Public awareness rises accordingly, whether in political and business circles or in the global citizens’ minds. Now is a time to further harness impactful Climate and Sustainability communications, to continue amplify this momentum and use it to focus all human stakeholder groups on the right battles.
