This week, there was an article in USA Today by Fredreka Schouten, "Women break records for political giving before midterm elections." Ms. Schouten reported that women account for 31 percent of the money going to House candidates, which is up from 27 percent in 2014 midterms.
The number of women donating to political campaigns is climbing to new heights ahead of this year’s midterm elections as women swarm to politics and run in record numbers for Congress and other elected posts around the country. ~Fredreka Schouten, USA Today
If women want to impact policy changes, women must put their money where their mouth is. We must vote, we must run for political office, and we must engage in the political process. Research the Democratic, Republican and Independent candidates. Contribute. It's important. Do you work for an organization that has a political action committee? Contribute. It's important. Find organizations like PLEN, whose mission is to increase the number of women in top leadership positions influencing all aspects of the public policy process. Contribute. It's important.
WOMEN put your money where their mouth is. Contribute. It's important.
