We all face incredible challenges in our lives: difficult people, ruthless competition, time constraints.
But the greatest demon you will face and most likely succumb to is an imaginary one—an imaginary demon that somehow manages to strangle our potential and restrict our progress.
This imaginary demon is called The Past.
The past is a great teacher, but it’s a terrible master. Living in the clutches of the past can shackle your imagination and relegate you to thinking small.
Imagine carrying around a backpack full of rocks, each representing some past injustice or setback you encountered.
Try climbing the mountain of success carrying a huge backpack of rocks.
At the ribbon cutting of a new business imagine seeing everyone carrying their backpacks. No wonder 66% of them fail.
When you see two people standing on the altar, imagine also seeing the big backpacks strapped to their shoulders. No wonder more than 50% fail.
Imagine swinging a golf club wearing that backpack, no wonder most weekend warriors suck.
You’ll never be able to play your best game unless you release the burden of the past and liberate yourself from its heavy load.
Look, what’s happened has happened. Its over. Leave those rocks back there—in the past. Don’t pick them up and carry them around.
Dwelling on your past mistakes and injuries will only eviscerate your ambition and squander your future.
LET IT GO.
So here’s what I want you to do today:
Empty your backpack. Make it 100% empty. Start today fresh.
Enter every meeting and conversation pure. Only see what is in the moment, today, right now. Don’t judge or filter through experiences of the past.
Release any tensions, gripes or past hurts you have with everyone.
Forgive yourself for everything.
You are born again. Today you woke up sin-free.
You now have a blank canvas in which to paint on.
And when the day is done be sure to do as the ancient prophet advised, “shake every grain of sand from your sandals” so tomorrow you can start fresh again.
. . . because life should be celebrated! Customizing all your life events. Live Joyfully!
