It's time to investigate all parties involved in the Hinds County and State of Mississippi Attorney General Office
FROM: TONY DAVIS BLOG!!!!!!
Well normally I could make some sense out of Gates comments but this one stirs up some very serious questions. Now how can a statement be made about the current Hinds County District Attorney and his fight to clear his name to a jury of these defendants peers made the decision to find these people innocent of these charges?
Now I can understand that there are concerns about the justice system but I haven't seen Mr. Gates investigate all the cases that Circuit Court Judge Tomie Green remanded to the file. What about all the case that were not prosecuted by Faye Peterson when she was in office? What about the number of people place on house arrest and are being monitored by a relative of Tomie Green? Now read this Gates opinion and my comments at the end of this post!

Tommy Bass, Wilber Clay and Avery Green probably aren’t names most people know, but each was acquitted of murder charges in separate trials in Hinds County Circuit Court within the last month.
Bass had been charged in the shooting death of 21-year-old Mark Nichols in 2013 in Clinton.
Nichols’ body was found in a ditch off a Clinton road. Police said Nichols was shot after he and Bass argued over a woman.
Clay had been accused of shooting to death Ebony Hervey and wounding two others in 2014 in Jackson as they sat on the porch of a home.
Green, then 57, was charged in 2015 in the stabbing death of Calvin Phillips Jr., 23, and aggravated assault on another man.
I don’t know why a jury acquitted each of these men. I wasn’t there to hear the evidence or lack thereof.
But it’s not reassuring that the criminal justice system is working well in Hinds County, especially with District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith and one of his assistant district attorneys facing charges in a criminal case for allegedly aiding a criminal defendant. Also, a former assistant district attorney pleaded guilty in July to a federal conspiracy charge that he took money to recommend a lower bond for a criminal defendant.
The Smith case will have to be resolved one way or the other, but I'm left at this point wondering who is running the Hinds DA's office? Smith is still technically in charge of the office since he hasn't been removed, but it is difficult to get any information out of the office these days about cases.
The trouble in the DA's office doesn't help with the perception by some that crime is running amok in the state's most populous county and home to our state capital. Although the perception isn’t reality, Jackson definitely has its share of crime, and the city’s murder rate has already surpassed last year’s total of 57 homicides.
One basic tenet of law enforcement is to apprehend suspects in criminal cases, but law enforcement is only one part of the criminal justice system. We have to have confidence that the entire criminal justice system is working. Do I have that confidence? No.
I have written about the criminal justice system in Hinds County for decades. Some of the problems have been systemic, but we have never had the top prosecutor facing a criminal charge.
Some will argue that the acquittals in the murder cases don’t mean the system isn’t working; rather that it points to the overall criminal justice system working if there were doubts about the guilt of the individuals.
The Hinds County Public Defender’s office successfully defended Green. An assistant public defender argued that Green acted in self-defense and said he shouldn’t have been indicted.
If that was the case, then it still points to a problem within the criminal justice system in Hinds County.
We need a well-oiled criminal justice system in Hinds County for the the sake of our residents. We need to hold our elected officials, judges, prosecutors, etc., accountable at election time to ensure we are getting the services that our taxpayers' dollars are paying for in Hinds County.

Now people when a crime is committed it's up to Law enforcement agencies to investigate, look at the evidence, questions witness, get forensic evidence and submit their case to the District Attorney General Offices. The County Attorney General Office present this documentation to a Grand Jury and it's the decision of the Grand Jury to decide if there is enough evidence to present to a jury that the person that is being charged is guilty of the offense. The District Attorney present this case before a judge and a jury with the evidence that was turned in to their office to present to the Jury.
Now yes there has been mess going on in the Judicial system for years but I cannot understand why Mr. Gates didn't point the finger at all the parties involved. Circuit Court Judge Tomie Green remanded charges on a person that committed 2 felonies Arm Robbery, Arm Car Jacking and in less than a year later this same person went and killed to young ladies one of which was pregnant. Now where is the story on that? Yes. I agree that the system is in turmoil because it has been that way for over 20 years and the main reason is when the Hinds County District Attorney started indicting and exposing criminals such as Ben Allen, Melvin Priester Sr., Jeff Weill, Jim Hood then he is lied on and harass with bogus charges but again Mr. Gates you haven't investigate any of these allegations! And I see not it's more than Justice being Blind we have people that have build up relationships with these people over the years trying to help them discredit and hid the truth. Hell what do you expect in Hinds County and in the State Attorney General Office in the first place! I would like to know what law firms handle these cases?
Now people make you own decision because some people think that we don't have common sense to see what actually is going on with this story!!!!
Now if you really want to do a good story for the people to read investigate these people and do stories on them too! If you can't do that then your opinion is just a joke now let's share this people!
Please Go to Face Book on Tony Davis Page to review the picture of some of the people that need to be investigated!!!!!
