It’s Time for the Future of AI Act

Accenture’s research and experience in Artificial Intelligence demonstrates that AI has the power to spur economic growth, constructively shape the future of work and create completely new categories of jobs that will deliver economic value to millions around the world in the future. To realize that potential, it’s critical that governments, businesses and the myriad of stakeholders who will be touched by AI, work together to determine how we can deploy AI effectively and responsibly. That is why today Accenture is supporting the Future of AI Act by Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Todd Young (R-IN), and Representatives John Delaney (D-MD) and Pete Olson (R-TX).

This bipartisan, bicameral bill would establish an advisory commission that would take holistic approach to evaluating the economic and societal impact of AI in the United States. It is time for the United States to develop a meaningful strategy for AI that is centered on growth, innovation, education, protecting citizen’s privacy and preventing bias. Accenture is a global and national leader in AI, working with clients in every sector of our economy, including manufacturing, energy, hospitality, utilities, health care, consumer goods and beyond. We have unparalleled AI insights and experience, and have an enviable track record of applying these toward the design and implemention AI solutions that improve enterprise productivity, create new products and services and develop new skills and jobs.

We know that by helping American companies innovate in AI - especially non-tech companies who are increasingly using AI to grow their businesses – we will greatly enhance the United States’ competitiveness and vibrancy of our workforce.

Bravo! AI, if applied humanely, ought to result in hope, not despair, for the people. The aim should be 10x in productivity with extended superhuman powers. Corporations should think hard to create win-win and not zero-sum situations between AI and human workers.
