It’s Time to Build iREITs in Public
iREITs is building in public. Today we launch our BETA.
And today is the first day on our journey towards revolutionizing how investors think about, and invest in, real estate.
It starts with an idea.
iREITs, my newest venture, has been in the works for the past 5 years. I’m fascinated how an industry as prolific as real estate is dominated by poorly structured investment products that ignore the end client. With abysmal industry-wide NPS scores around 0, ‘Investor Friendly’ is a term that seems to be all-but missing in Real Estate Investing.
I fell in love with this problem and became an anthropologist focused on building a solution for this broken industry.
I feel fortunate to have found some very different, but likeminded, and incredible co-founders Fred Canney and Dave Anderson. We saw something wrong and we wanted to make it better.
Years of customer interviews, a Wharton MBA Venture Initiation Program, and multiple career changes later, we’re now tackling this problem head on.
We have been building.
This past April, Marc Andreessen published his instantly famous rallying cry to founders It’s Time to Build.
One section stood out to me more than the rest:
The problem is desire. We need to *want* these things.
The problem is inertia. We need to want these things more than we want to prevent these things.
The problem is regulatory capture. We need to want new companies to build these things, even if incumbents don’t like it, even if only to force the incumbents to build these things.
And the problem is will. We need to build these things.
This resonated loud and clear, as we have been working to make a better investment solution for real estate.
And now, we're building in public.
I’ve been fortunate to get the opportunity to work on multiple startups with amazing people. These businesses were all unique with very different outcomes, but the most energizing parts were always similar – time spent with customers collectively engaging to solve their problems.
We founded iREITs to make it easier for real estate owners to optimize their disposition process and institutional investors to invest thematically.
And as we do this, we are emulating the customer-centered and open approach that Gaby Goldberg’s so eloquently described in her blog post: Building in Public How-To-Guide. This is incredibly powerful approach for growth and positive feedback loops to be able to learn faster and build better solutions.
We are building a better way to invest in real estate. And today, we begin building in public.
We hope you’ll join us.
