It's Three Days After Christmas, ...Yes?

It's three days after Christmas and this year will be one we remember.

People are resilient. Everyone had a Christmas of some sort. Nothing like we've had in the past. But it was a Christmas none the less and most everyone had a good time, even if it was in fewer numbers.

And now, are you catching your breath or worrying about heading back to work before the new year?

For a lot of folks, they just don’t have a choice. …it 's worrying about going back to work.

Why? …Because they need the job to pay the bills.

They’ve been doing it for years. That’s the way it “supposed” to be.

Or so we’ve been told. And most people are somewhat thankful they have a job, especially in these strange economic times.

The problem with jobs is that they consume a majority of our time either physically, when you’re there or mentally, when you’re worried or aggravated because of the job, commute, coworkers, employees or employers depending on what side of the desk you’re on.

There’s not much left for you and the family after you finish the job.

We live for just a couple of hours a day when you finish work, for the weekends and the occasional holiday.

And let’s not forget that vacation that we spend the entire year planning.

That’s the extent of our lives.

There could be more, much more.

Whatever has happened in your life already cannot be changed. It’s in the past.

Whatever MAY happen in the future you have little to no control over.

However, what you’re doing today, right now, is what you can control to a very large extent.

If you’re not happy with what went on in the past, yesterday, last week or last year OK.

What can you learn from your past? What did you do in the past that you would like to have changed?

What can you do today moving forward that give you the best chance for a different result?

Our lives are impacted by 3 main things: People, Money, and Things

1. Are the people you associate with consumed with getting results and talk about ideas and solutions OR do they constantly complain and talk about other people and why things won’t or can’t work?

2. Are you not making or saving enough money so that you’re comfortable? What skills do you have that would have more money flow to you? Are you learning new things to develop new skills? Are you investing in yourself in your personal education? Remember degrees do NOT necessarily mean more money.

3. Are you happy with the things that you have? Do you want more or newer “things”? This is controlled by a large extent on the amount of money you have.

In these three areas you can make decisions and take actions today that will affect what will happen to you tomorrow.

Some of those decisions may be difficult to make.

You may need to find new friends or spend less or no time, with people that you’ve been associated with in the past be they friends or family.

You may need to spend money and time investing in yourself in new ways that you may not have even considered several years ago.

Your ability and willingness to change what you do today, will make a difference in your tomorrow.

And maybe next year, after Christmas you can just sit back and catch your breath from all the festivities and not have to worry about work.

…just a thought.
