It's NOT About Taking a Long Time!

Yes, I'm hosting the Long-Term Strategic Planning Conference starting on Wednesday at midnight. And the name seems to imply that we are looking at stuff that takes a long time.
But no...that's not the point.
So what is?
The idea is that game-changing results take time.
Sure, some companies get lucky and make them happen in two years. VERY lucky.
But according to Built to Last, BHAGs take 10-30 years.
And it took 25 years to realize Richard Williams 78-year plan for unborn Serena and Venus. And a 25-year plan for Grace Kennedy Vision 2020 to come to fruition. And 20 years to eradicate smallpox.
In other words, Going Big means Going Long. And no, COVID didn't teach us differently. It was an interruption in which many became desperate. It seemed as if the world had become more VUCA than ever before. Now we know that this wasn't true.
So a conference about Long-Term Planning is really about achieving breakthrough accomplishments, and being realistic about achieving them.
Not trying to force them into short timeframes so they fit the end of the budget, or a CEOs short tenure, or the next election, or an IPO.
Look, the only way to end climate change is to bring us all onto the same page. Every. Single. Company. Organization. NGO. Government. Political Party. Nation. All lined up behind the most important challenges of our lives.
But don't take my word for it. Take a moment to hear the clips from some of our presenters. Then, for the sake of all that is good in the world, register.
