It's A Small World: Summer Dreaming

It's A Small World: Summer Dreaming

If you’re anything like me, most of the time you’re head down in life’s daily minutiae. When I allow myself to DREAM BIG, it often feels grandiose, an uncomfortable luxury. And yet, without dreaming big, how will we drive exponential results for ourselves, our family, our communities?

This month's article is focused on this idea of Dreaming Big. How does it work, what does success look like, and why do we let the silliest things get in the way of it.

Wishing you all a wonderful beginning of summer.

My Big, Crazy Dream: A Festival of Light

Eight years ago, my cousin Josh and I had a dream: could we reimagine our Great-Uncle Dore’s long out-of-print, 16-page Hanukkah service into a coffee table art book and get it published?

The answer? A resounding yes!

But that’s not the crazy part of the dream. This is:

We actually have the audacity to think that we can add significance to an otherwise sweet little holiday by creating relevance for families who are looking for a way to thrive in a very divisive world.

We asked:

  • What if, in addition to dreidels and latkes, songs and presents, Hanukkah was a time for reflection and rededication to being your best self?
  • What if the celebration of Hanukkah were an occasion to share a rich, evocative set of values – one for each night?
  • What if, as you lit the candles, you could create conversations that resonated for a lifetime?

Eight Nights. Eight Values. A lifetime of Memories .

Now, I realize it's July and you’re not thinking about Hanukkah today (heck, you may never be thinking about Hanukkah). But, I’ll bet you dream about how to make a better world for our children’s tomorrow. And if you believe, like us, that it’s shared human values that keep us all connected (Jews and non-Jews alike) then I encourage you to take a deeper look.

Thanks for believing in our dream.

Where will your real estate dreams take you? The Compass National Network

I’m excited to be a part of COMPASS, which has built the first modern real estate platform, pairing top talent with technology to make the search and sell experience intelligent and seamless. And with more than 26,000 agents nationally, COMPASS Everywhere is more than a tagline.

"Well, Paul. Why is that important for me?"

Great question. Maybe a career change will necessitate a relocation. Perhaps you're thinking of an investment property in your high school senior's upcoming college town. Or simply considering a 2nd home or retirement property.

In any case, I want you to benefit from the powerful Compass platform wherever your real estate dreams may take you; Manhattan Beach or Manhattan, Mill Valley or the San Fernando Valley, Palm Beach or Palm Desert. With a short conversation, I can put you in touch with the right Compass Agent almost anywhere in the country, giving you the knowledge of a local expert backed by the power of a national network.

This is The Art of Representation.

Dream it. Then Build It: The Dream Big Music Setlist

All of us harbor dreams. They come in all shapes and sizes. And they are mostly fulfilled in three basic steps: identification, strategy and execution. While the latter two typically need outside resources to conceive and implement, step one is often a solo endeavor. And as I mentioned at the top, giving yourself license to dream can be challenging for many of us.

If you, like me, struggle to find the time to dream or if your dreams are being pushed aside by the day-to-day, here’s a list of songs that might inspire you to get back on track.

Your Neighborhood Collection: Bridging the Communication Gap

While most people use home search tools like Zillow, Redfin or Trulia, most realtors use their local MLS. Which makes collaboration difficult. COMPASS has an ongoing dream to empower its agents to deliver the best-in-class service that the profession demands. To solve this communication disconnect, they created Collections, which enables agents and their clients to collaborate in real-time.

I’m setting up “Neighborhood Collections” for all my clients to help them better understand what’s happening in their neighborhood. And, together, we fine tune it as wide or tight as desired (eg, “let’s look at all of Santa Monica or just the street I live on”).

Here’s an example of what a Collection looks like in Sherman Oaks, south of the Blvd, east of Sepulveda to Ventura Canyon Avenue.

By staying informed on local activity in your neighborhood, you’ll be able to make better decisions. And you making better decisions is one of the ways I fulfill my dream of helping you become the most successful homeowner you can be. See how I tied that back to the whole Dream Theme. DM me if you want your own Neighborhood Activity Collection.

A native Angeleno, I grew up in a "show-biz family" and began my career as a third-generation theatrical agent impacting the careers of actors and writers including the likes of Crispin Glover, Paul Haggis, Ray Liotta and Demi Moore. After beginning a family, I traded Sunset Blvd for Madison Avenue and spent the next 20 years in advertising, creating and implementing marketing strategies that drove new business growth, resulting in the successful onboarding of clients such as Coca-Cola, Comcast, Electronic Arts, Nike, Pinkberry, Princess Cruises and the US Army among many others.

I now apply those same principles of agency; integrity, accountability and perseverance to my clients as we work together to define and fulfill their real estate investment strategies.
