One Extra Step Can Go a Long Way

___________

A thorough cleansing is the first step in any great skincare routine, but what about the emerging technique of double cleansing?

Yep, washing your face twice. Using two cleansers back-to-back has a rich history originating in Japan, and it's gaining serious ground!

This method can be very helpful; however, it is not a necessity for all. As your skincare advisor, I consider it my job (and joy!) to help you determine what's best for your specific skin.

What are the benefits?

"Think of your skin like a canvas. You need a clean canvas to start your work. Clean skin will allow active ingredients to penetrate better and work more effectively."   — Dr. Dendy Engelman, New York City-based Dermatologist

Breaking down makeup, dirt, and excess oils, the first wash gets rid of the junk sitting on the surface of your skin. This clears the way for your primary routine to do its magic.

And what does that mean for you?

Your skin will better soak up those powerful serums and treatments layered on top - giving you the results you want!

 Which cleansers are best?

The first cleanser should be a gentle wash or oil-based cloth. Say goodbye to lingering makeup, oil, and sunscreen! R+F's cleansers do not strip the skin of natural oils and moisture, so you're safe with these.

  • Cleansers
  • Gentle Cream Wash
  • 3-in-1 Super Cleanser
  • Cloths
  • Instant Makeup Remover Wipes

The primary cleanser should be specific to your skincare concerns.

  • Aging - Redefine Daily Clay Cleanser or Foaming Cleanser
  • Acne - Unblemish Refining Acne Wash or Spotless Daily Acne Wash
  • Discoloration - Reverse Deep Exfoliating Wash
  • Sensitivity - Soothe Gentle Cream Wash
 Is it right for me?

Yes → If you wear makeup, use mineral-based sunscreens, or have normal to oily skin, double cleansing can make a big difference!

No → If you have extremely dry, irritated, or sensitive skin, double cleansing may be a bit too much.

In case you need the reminder: you are worth the extra step, friend! If you ever have a question about a skin trend you have seen, I am one message away to serve you! Please reach out anytime.
