It's probably dumb not to include social media!

Effective advertising needs a mix of channels to attract and engage with customers. Why would you not include appropriate social media?

How's this for twaddle? ' “If any marketer comes to me with a social media marketing budget I know they are an idiot, and poorly trained,” Professor Ritson told The AFR. '

It may make a good headline for B&T, but I reckon this Marketing Prof is way off-track with his comments.

imho, for businesses NOT to have a social media marketing budget is dumb. It needs to be planned well and spent wisely, with smart use of analytics. Like most advertising,  it's really easy to waste money in social media - just as it is with TV, radio and print.

Some people just can't accept change in approaches and attitudes. It seems far too many academics fall into that category, possibly due to their isolation from the real world as it operates. Social media is a fact of life for individuals and business now. Ignore it at your peril.

It's definitely dumb not to include social media and digital platforms as they define modern communications. Prof Ritson's been too long at university.
