It’s not about policies, it’s about politics
What is the future of policy? We can't predict the future, but we with the help of 10 future-thinkers, we can try to understand the prospective dynamics of future policy:
It’s not about policies, it’s about politics: Currently established systems are failing citizens, organizations, and businesses. The disparity between policy-design and implementation and real-life circumstances and actions will soon be beyond repair. Therefore, one can argue it's not about the policies but about the politics of current governments.? The future of policy is about reshaping in depth the way policies are defined and produced by addressing the root causes of a structural issue.?
Total design: To design the future, policymakers will need to acknowledge small changes won't cut it. The need for total redesign is here, and the future is about making it actionable.?Concentrating on the establishment of newly redesigned processes would arguably be the first step to take. Adopting a multi-stakeholder perspective including all actors of the citizen-life is necessary to ensure the policymaking of tomorrow incorporates the shared interests of the future co-creators of change.?
Evolving frameworks against uberization policies: The policy world of tomorrow is faced with a bottom-line challenge -continue with a reactive uberization of policies (being forced to respond as a novel business market emerges amidst the absence of regulations for it) or turn towards evolving, living, frameworks.?Businesses, technology, and innovation are not waiting for these frameworks, while policies and policymakers are still at the starting blocks. To counter-act the absence of policy, it seems imperative policymakers step up their game to take the lead and generate structure for the world of tomorrow.
