Luxor′s Temple

It′s not about overwriting and forgetting, it′s about being more conscious and write your present paths.

Exploring different cultures is a way of getting a brand new perspective and train the competences of Performance and Innovation that I′ve learnt at the I4 Certification with Silvia Damiano.

Currently I′ve had the chance to travel to Egypt, a childhood dream that finally has become true.

And as I was relaxing after a long and exciting day with temples I was trying to understand this amazing culture. I couldn′t stop thinking no matter in what religion or era, we are all humans and with one similar brain. So, ?What that means?

Our brain tends to conserve what has been successful in the past. As behavioral scientist Jason Hreha writes, “Habits are, simply, reliable solutions to recurring problems in our environment.” And the main reason is to optimize your energy and focus on new challenges.

So we all humans resist to new perspectives, ways of thinking and behaviors. But what if you want a change?

The good news is that we also have the power of neuroplasticity so new electrical patterns can be rewired with time and persistence. In fact, I would say the keys are time, activity, rewards and a purpose. So, don’t try to build Rome in a day if you are trying to transform yourself.

Only a hundred years ago, some Ancient temples were hidden beneath the sand. Luxor is a perfect example, where a mosque was built literarily on top of it!. And part of Luxor was converted into a Coptic Christian church, we can still the paintings. So it appears you can paint the walls of a temple with a new religion or try to erase the past. In any case if we look for it, historic structures will show up like hidden in the sand.

So What I′m trying to tell you is, don′t panic or discourage yourself when you don′t get something new in the first try. And even when there is no recipe for success, because diversity is the best way to think of humans, I agree with this 5 topics that has helped me decreasing coffee in my life:

1)     Find your purpose: ?What′s more important for you than…?. According to brain plasticity expert Dr. Michael Merzenich you need to really care about what you are learning

2)     Take small steps and celebrate what you have achieved. Sometimes we get the key of success on what we want to preserve.

3)     Be conscious of your brain: New habits take time and requires activity. Your brain will tend to preserve the past behavior

4)     Create an environment that helps you: get support from your family, friends and colleagues depending on what you want to achieve. So lead your environment, don′t wait it to change.

5)     Connect with yourself and anticipate what triggers you to do it.. moments of stress or new situations are perfect for old successful habits to show

So, I invite you to think about you in the future... choose something new to learn that reaches you to that point, understand your actual path and make your own way!
