It's our OBLIGATION

We have all read the papers about the tragedy that has happened to the people at both Toys R Us and Bon Ton Stores. Well over 50,000 people lost their jobs, equal to nearly 75% of the people that work in all the US coal mining industry. That is an incredible number. 

Any time there is store closures or job losses most people treat it as a disease. Phone calls are not returned to people that have worked at these companies. If you are at a party or industry event you turn away when someone from one of these companies comes up to you. These people are not lepers. They don’t have anything that is catching. They were caught up in events they most likely had nothing to do with. But, they don’t get their calls returned, they don’t get their emails returned, and no one asks them to events any longer.

This is a mistake. These two companies had great people working for them. They had great people in their store systems. Great people in merchandising, marketing, IT, logistics, analytics, ecommerce, and finance were part of these legendary organizations. And, as an industry we turn our backs on them. This is dumb and it simply has to stop and stop today.

Here at Axcelora we are offering to help any person with either of these two companies connect in any way we can in the retail industry. We don’t know who has jobs, but we do know lots of people, and America is hiring. We don’t get paid for this. Nothing but our good will with the teams from Toys R Us and Bon Ton Stores. That is it. 

And, I hope that we can count on the 8,000+ business people that follow me to reach out and make the same offer to these 56,000 people. Just imagine, if each of us helps 2 people get a job we have taken care of more than 25% of all of the openings. It might not be the perfect job, but trust me, the act of you reaching out to these people will mean a lot to them. It will tell them they are not a loser, they were in a losing situation.
