It's okay to take a break

We have the notion we can't stop. If we don't do what's next, we'll never get done. What we need to realize, is the last part is always true. We'll never get done. But someday we will stop. So driving yourself toward that end faster than you intend through a non-stop effort is not the way. Burn out and the associated psychological and health drawback is real. And it will slow you down (before it stops you). Getting more done doesn't depend on doing more - it depends on doing what's right for you.

Often it's life which intrudes upon us and says it's time to take a break. Have you heard the saying about critical equipment: "If You Don't Schedule Maintenance, Your Equipment Will Schedule It For You"? It's as true for you as it is for the machine. And sometimes it's just life itself throwing the wrench into your best laid plans. No matter the source, recognizing that pushing through without a pause sometimes is just not an option. (And also, sometimes it is necessary). But if you have the opportunity and ability to take the break for the healing and maintenance, you will get better results long term.

When you can and when you need to - find the time to take the break. Your to-do list won't forget about you.
