It's OK to start over in your race!

 This past weekend was a new chapter in life for our family.

 The nice-looking house we built from scratch. A big accomplishment in life that took 7 years of hard work. It was the perfect home being a new build. Had such a nice fireplace and was on almost 3 acres of land. 

 That house wasn’t perfect though!

There were things that needed work like relationships, finances, my relationship with alcohol, my relationship with God, and my nonstop grinding for someone else's dream. 

Then one day all came crashing down. All I worked for disappeared. I took some risks being an entrepreneur and boom the house had to be sold. The life plan did not include losing the house we built. It was time to rebuild it all!

 Our recovery season was this old farmhouse. One that most would never live in. Our family dealt with some interesting things in that house. However, we had a roof over our heads, a safe 88-acre farm to live on, and a place to truly find our purpose in life. 

Almost three years ago we moved onto this farm. Not knowing what was next but knowing it would be a place of recovery. A time where there were days, we had to live on sub $500 a month. You learn a lot about life, yourself, and God's heart in moments like that. 

We never lost hope through some very dark days. I knew there were three boys watching Sarah and I. Our attitudes on handling this season of life would be everlasting for them. There was no sugar coating a thing for them. I let them know at one point in their life they will remember this season. How we didn't back down every time it got harder or a new obstacle came. How even in the darkest times we still gave what we could to others. How while I prayed for someone to come rescue us. I knew I had to work like this was on me and put the trust in the outcome of God.

However, I will say to those facing their own trials. Grasp them, learn from them, use them for clarity on your purpose in life.

Let God speak to you and trust him to guide you.

He recently miraculously provided a new home for us in under 90 days.

It's not our dream home but I know that is coming in the future, as I refuse to let the circumstance of life keep our family down. Being an endurance cyclist has taught me to never quit pedaling forward even if you moving real slow!

Our family is ready for the next battle.

Ready to take our season of recovery and healing to help others overcome the impossible!!

I share this to encourage you no matter where you are in life. When life hits hard keep pedaling. You will find your purpose, calling, and peloton through your trials if you don't quit. For those not knowing what a peloton is. That is your people group, tribe, or community. As a cyclist, we look for our peloton to help us move forward with less effort and as a community!

One of the most amazing things did happen as we left the farm. Our entire time on the farm there were a few bald eagles that would occupy the area. Ironically, back in August when we knew we had to move on from the farm. They stopped showing up which was odd. Much to our surprise on our final 15 minutes on the farm, one of them flew right over us and say goodbye and lead us into our new season.

It was a moment that made me chuckle as we were leaving a land that had a lot of turkeys making noise. To only soar like the eagle about it all!!!

We will miss you Freedom Hill Farm but will never forget the impact you made on us!
