IT'S OK NOT TO BE OK!

IT'S OK NOT TO BE OK!

How's your day shaping up? Oh, why should I care, right?

Because May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Some people are like, “Oh great, another month celebrating who knows what, right?” But hey, it's important!

It's absolutely crucial that we shine a bright spotlight on mental health and kick that old stigma to the curb! Think about this, early this year Sesame Street, yes The Muppet Show, raised a simple yet powerful question to their audience over social media platforms … “how is everyone doing?” a cute red muppets asked. And just like that, the response went and broke the internet! People posted shared their hardships: financial problems, relationship hardships, loneliness, exhaustion, angst to disconnection, You name it, they were posted. People shared their daily struggles to a bloomin' muppet! With a whopping 217 million views, 15,000 reposts, and 45,000 responses on IG alone, to be precise.

So this tells us how “Not OK” we all are ????. Remember that mental wellness can affect anyone, so that is why it is a great reminder on the importance of mental health and the impact to our overall well-being.

So this kindly reminds us how important it is to take care of our mental well-being. Let's remember that everyone can be influenced by mental wellness, highlighting its significant impact on our overall health.

That is why I say “IT IS OK, NOT TO BE OK” In our fast-paced world today, it's common to feel overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious. Remember, it's absolutely fine not to be okay. That is why I say, “It is okay, not to be okay.” In our fast-paced world today, it's common to feel overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious. Remember, it's completely normal not to be okay. Acknowledging our challenges marks the first step towards healing and personal growth. Here are some helpful strategies we can all implement for ourselves or our colleagues:

  1. Normalize the Conversation: Let's start by normalizing the conversation around mental health. It's time to break the silence and open up about our struggles. Remember, you are not alone, and there is no shame in seeking help or support when needed.
  2. Practice Self-Compassion: One of the most powerful tools for managing mental health is self-compassion. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer to a friend in need. Be gentle with yourself, especially during challenging times.
  3. Find Your Support System: Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends, family, or professionals who can offer encouragement, guidance, and empathy. Lean on them when you need a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on.
  4. Prioritize Self-Care: Make self-care a priority in your daily routine. Whether it's exercise, meditation, journaling, or spending time in nature, find activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Remember, self-care is not selfish; it's essential for your well-being.
  5. Seek Professional Help: If you're struggling with your mental wellbeing, don't hesitate to seek professional help. Whether it's therapy, counselling, or coaching, there are many resources available to support you on your journey to mental wellness.
