It's ok NOT to change some things !

The 'Roy Tho' is one of those things that one never forgets - and no matter how old you get, you ALWAYS look forward to. Sure, the 'thrill' may be 'different' as the years roll by - but it is, always always will be a thrill none the less...

I still remember fondly the first 'big match' I went to - and it is honestly a joy to take the 'kids' now... Who would have thought the ragamuffins we were, that we will have kids one day - and be the ones to be cautious (rather than 'messing around' with 'joyous abandon' !)...

In a world that is changing so fast - and all the talk about change and the importance of change (which I too talk about incessantly on a daily basis) I think it IS important to understand that certain things should NOT change : because they entail all that is good in us. Th big match has not been about the cricket for the longest time. Its a time old tradition where good friends meet for one last hurrah - where sons are inducted into a hundred year old history and daughters often find their husbands - a playground where boys become men - and men become boys. It is, above all, a place to see humanity at work - every year - no matter how badly it comes crashing down around you. For three days, race, religion and all else is forgotten - and the only two things that matter is that you are alive - and you have a ticket !

Some things should NOT change. They MUST remain as they are : because it reminds us of all that is IMPORTANT and all that is GOOD. These little things act as our anchor - and often, moral compass too. Lets change a lot of things - but a few, lets keep it as it is : as they are perfect the way they are !!!
