Inclusion and Diversity Report 2019
Twitter released its inclusion and diversity report on roles at the company by gender and race.
Twitter found that the data and insights were too US-centric given the global nature of the company and that it needed to expand from the U.S. government definition of diversity to create something broader that reflects diversity of backgrounds, geography, cultures, and perspectives.
Golden Tweet awards
For the FIFA Women’s World Cup Twitter created #FIFAWWC to determine #GoldenTweet winners for the most popular tweets in a range of categories.
Making Twitter rules easier to understand
VP of Trust and Safety at Twitter Del Harvey @delbius runs through the refresh of Twitter rules, now reorganised into high-level categories of safety, privacy and authenticity to make them simpler to navigate and understand.
As part of the refresh, rule pages have added more information, including examples, step-by-step instructions about how to report, and details on what happens when Twitter takes action.

June US Linked in Workforce Report
LinkedIn has published its monthly report on employment trends in the US workforce using data from its profiles of 155 million US workers.
The data gives insight into hiring, skills gaps, and migration trends with interesting insights into the startup sector and cities in which there are both skills gaps and excesses.
LinkedIn teams up with Disney
LinkedIn teamed up with Disney on the #IJustCantWaitToBeContest giving US LinkedInners a chance to win a behind the scenes trip to Disneyland by posting short, original video content on LinkedIn.
Next billion users in Brazil
Aligned with its mission to provide internet access and digital skills, Google has opened Google Station in Brazil, which aims to connect people to a fast, free and open internet.
Google is also working with journalists and publishers in Brazil to provide high-quality information through numerous initiatives including -
1. Google News Initiative grants to support training programs and events for Brazilian journalism associations, including continued funding for Comprova, a coalition of more than 20 news organizations to combat misinformation online.
2. A call for applications for the first GNI Innovation Challenge in Latin America, an initiative to fund projects that bring new ideas and sustainable business models to digital journalism.
3. An incubation program for journalism startups, in partnership with Google for Startups Campus S?o Paulo. The Digital Native News Incubator will support early stage teams with products, tools, and mentorship as they build their organizations.
Google has also added an exhibition of one of Brazil’s most celebrated artists, Portinari, to Google arts and culture.
