It's Never about Where You are, It's about Where You are Going!

Recently I have a conversation with my mom. My mom is one of the toughest people you would ever meet. She was a mom who once chased teenagers, through the city and onto a dark dirt road after a high school basketball game for calling her a name. Also, she is the only person who I know that has actually had six knee's in a lifetime (I will explain that later). The point is that before she got knee five and six, she had to go 60 days without a knee in either leg. (ouch!)
So she is a tough woman. In our conversation, she was telling me that she thought that I was not doing what I should be doing at this time in my life. She sees my life slipping away and actually told me, "I don't like or understand why you are satisfied Where You Are!" You see, I have been unemployed for quite a long time now, and she feels that I am too talented to be sitting around waiting for "The" job instead of getting "A" job. I replied to her, "I am not sitting around for "the" job." But am I?
It is true that I have not accepted opportunities, mainly because they are in locations that are not advantageous to me when it comes to quality of life or they require me uprooting from my friends and family here in the Atlanta area. But I feel a sense of peace with my decisions. I continued to tell Mom, "my situation is about Where I Am Going." I continued to tell her, "I feel I am doing as much as I can for me, but also reaching out to those who are in much more dire straits than I appear to be. You see, I am going somewhere, aided by me helping others around me." I continued to tell her, "I help as many people who ask me, and although I have not found "A" job, I am currently doing a service as I look for "A" job."
I guess I am writing this story because I have a sense of purpose. It is more than where we are in our station of life now, it is about getting to our destination, while helping those who are lost along the journey. That gives me peace and who know, the person you help my in turn do something for your career. I say career because for me, them trusting in me is them doing something for me.
Peace to you all and make a commitment to do something positive to help those who are having issues in their life. Remember it isn't where they are, but it's where they're going!
