It's Never Too Late To Be The Person You Want To Be

It's Never Too Late To Be The Person You Want To Be

"There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept responsibility for changing them." - Denis Waitley

I was listening to an interview with Michelle Obama recently, and she said something that really hit home to me: "how do you become authentic? It starts with you've got to like me and like your own story!"

The truth is: everyone goes through shit. Most of us have many highs and lows. It's easy to talk through the highs, but talking through the lows is not always so easy.

We all have done stupid bonehead things. We've lost best friends because we did something stupid. We've almost killed ourselves doing stupid things as kids. We've all mistreated a boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse, or sibling. We've all been ungrateful from time to time for what we have for no reason outside of being self absorbed and selfish.

Most people have a story. The problem is, a lot of the time the story just isn't true. The hard part is owning up to the hard stuff that you either did, went through, or are going through, and recognizing the effects those things have had on you.

My friend Darren Prince said to me the other day "Whether you're in Yale or in jail; on Park Avenue or a park bench, it's never too late to change your mind about what you want to do with the rest of your life. More importantly, it's never too late to decide what type of person you want to be versus the person you are!"

Your story can have many chapters added if you choose. It's never too late to be the person you want to be, nor should you ever give up on the people you love in hopes that their story changes for the better!
