Its never too late to fall in love with your life!!

Mr. R dot Krishnan works 9-9 and then a few more hours checking emails before he hits bed. In his bucket list of life, he has gardening, baking, a visit to Hyderabad during the month of Ramadan for some special Haleem and watching Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara, a movie that his friends and family says is a must watch.

Ms. K.K. Gupta works 7am-6pm and after finishing her other works, she gets back to her laptop till way past midnight. She says, it puts a little less burden for the next morning. In her bucket there is an MBA in HR, a visit to her ancestral home in Assam and painting. For the last so many years, she too has been planning to watch Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara, but just could not make it happen.

Ms. Lalita D Shenoy manages her home, which consists of a hubby and two teens. From 5 in the morning to 10 at night, time rolls away like the roller waves on a beach. Her bucket list includes finishing writing the novel that she started writing 8 years ago and get it published, and a solo trip to Rajasthan. She wants to watch Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara, but usually lands up watching recipes for the next day, and the latest diet fad to lose weight.

?No one has time.

While most people talk about time-management, I would like to introduce a new verbiage – Life management – a change of perspective, where we acknowledge that we cannot manage time. It’s not in our control. It runs at its own pace. We can, however, manage our life within the allotted 24 hours.

I would like to coin a new concept called the ‘click-time’. Click-time is the time that we do not account for and goes away in a click, but if used judiciously, much can be achieved. Some examples of click time are – waiting for the lift, waiting for the red-light to turn green, dentist appointment waiting, bill counter Q etc. You can add to the list.

How do we use this time judiciously?

The lift time can be used for a ‘Stop-Start’ mindfulness meditation. Most people get very frustrated with the lift ritual or waiting for the bus or cab ritual. While waiting for the lift, bus, or cab, just close your eyes, take a deep breath, and say ‘Stop’. In your mind, ‘X’ out all the open windows – Emails to be answered, meeting at 4, travel plans, noises, conversations etc. Call it a blank and flush your mind with bright beautiful white, blue, and purple light. This mediation can be done in under 1 min. Breathe in again and open your eyes. You will find that you have rebooted your system for the moment, which will energize you further.

Traffic lights and commuting time – listen to some empowering podcast. It will energize you and sharpen your performance.

Waiting time for doc appointment – Straighten out your days calendar and catch up with friends and family; not work or emails.

What does this practice of judicious usage of click-time do?

From the time we wake up, we keep layering our system with stress hormones. This is why, we come back home drained. It’s not just the workload that drains us, its this stress hormones. It needs to be flushed out from our system from time to time. These little utilization of click-time helps with the flush.

My personal suggestion would be to begin with the ‘Stop-Start’ meditation and see the result. We probably use lifts, bus, or cabs 2-3 times a day. If practiced, you will come home not drained but sufficiently energized. You will have time to tick off goods from your Wishlist bucket more often than not.

And yes, you can also find time and energy to watch Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara. It’s totally worth it!!

Those little Stop Start moments throughout the day add up very quickly. Even if you only spend those moments being present in your body instead of your brain I think you'll be surprised at what changes for you. We could talk for hours about this subject Panda!

Agree with your view. More and more people are consumed by the electronics making them always on the Available status. This can be dangerous and not healthy for sure.To your point , how many of us stop to contemplate a tree or a bird while being stoped on traffic lights? Instead peoplr grab the phone to check emails...Something so simple as that... People need to be more aware of mindful moments in their daily lives. A few minutes that can help them have a more positive approach to life.

?? Very often, we are not so busy that we don't even have time to relax, but because we can't release stress and are not in the mood. Mental stress causes us not to RELAX. Add Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara to my watch list and see what other inspiration it might bring

Very insightful.. We need to know what to prioritize and be content in life else the rat race never ends causing unwanted stress. As of Zindagi Na milege doobara - as name says there is no next.. Live life to the fullest and live the moment.
