It's Nearly All Superfluous

Can you believe the weather we're having? My gosh! The grass is now starting to show signs of green and when looking at our extended weather forecast, they're saying we'll be in the thirties and possibly forties in the coming days. The ground hog will surly not want to go back to its nest for six more weeks.

Once I arrived at office, I got myself settled-in for the day, and then proceeded to send out an email to another agent regarding an update on one of my sales, and for some reason, I didn't get a response back, so hopefully all is still well with the selling side of that transaction.

I went ahead and got all of the news feeds read, and when thinking about the high costs of publishing obituaries in the Globe Gazette now, I decided to visit the websites of our three local funeral homes, and wouldn't you know, only about half of them we're published in the Globe, so it looks like I'll have to visit those sites on a regular basis. I did notice one person I passingly knew who'd passed away last week, and to think I wouldn't have even known it if I hadn't gone on those funeral home sites. Back in the old days, those obits were free because they were part of a newspaper's community service. My how times have changed.

My next little errand for the day, was to go over to First Congregational Church and find those two hymns I didn't know, and fortunately one of them was a 're-skin', but the other was completely foreign to me, so I sat down at their organ and practiced it, along with the others I'm scheduled to play. Once again, I can't begin to say how much I truly enjoy playing their organ, and so much so, I could likely play it for hours on end and still not be tired of it. Yes, it's one of those rare ones I could wrap my arms around and give it a good hug, but of course I'd have to do it when no one was looking for fear they'd think me a bit unhinged.

With the morning just about half shot, I decided to go for a short drive with camera in hand, just to see if I could find a few good shots which would be worth sharing, but unfortunately there wasn't anything that stood out on our half-foggy and drizzly morning, so I headed back to the city.

By the time I arrived back at office, it was nearing noontime, so I changed into my work clothes and headed over to work on that 'paying-it-forward' project which turned out to be far more tedious and time consuming, but luckily after another four hours was spent, I finally got it completed, and thank Heaven for that. Now all I have to do, is go over tomorrow afternoon and clean up the mess I made which won't take long. Yes, I learned a few more time-saving tricks while working away, but hopefully I won't ever be confronted with another as daunting.

The upside of having to spend so very many hours alone during those various days, afforded me time to get some much-needed deep thinking and decision-making done, so going forward, I now have a more clear direction for the rest of this year, and one of the big changes I'd already noticed today, is my no longer allowing past transgressions to consume me like they did over this past year, and when looking back, I dare say it was too much at the forefront of my daily thoughts. Yes, putting our past in perspective, does help because even though there are some really bad people out there who enjoy making our lives miserable, it's best to close the door on them and never again allow them into our spheres. I'm not wishing bad on anyone, but I'm confident there'll be a day when karma comes a-knocking on a few doors, and what they end up getting, is most likely what they deserved, so for us, it's onward and upward with our lives and no looking back.

Another clear understanding I had while working alone, was my having decided that far too many of us and me included, have been placing far more emphasis on all this temporal stuff like being successful in our jobs, bringing more needless 'peripherals' into our spaces, and at the end of the day, it's just all part of the game society has taught us to play, and I should've have an even better understanding of it, because over the years I've seen very successful people who had the world by the tail, ending up in care facilities where their families placed them, just so they didn't have to be bothered by an aging relative who likely spoiled them rotten from the get-go, and the most unfortunate thing that happens after they pass, is there being a mad rush to get all the decadent's personal property thrown or given away, and their remaining assets liquidated and divvied out to thankless beneficiaries, and whether you want to realize it or not, it's happening nearly all the time.

Now having been a bit cold over the whole process, I think we all should stop and realize money and 'stuff' isn't everything, but rather tools to be used to make not just our lives better, but the betterment of health and welfare of others. So you can only imagine the dough some of these miserly people have who think they're gonna live forever, and in the end, it's nearly all superfluous, because they could've been using their wealth to help the very many in need. I know I've mentioned the story before about a greedy old lady who was in Hell and calling up to Heaven just to remind God that she'd at one time given an onion out of her garden to a beggar, so God took and onion and held it down for her to grab it and then be pulled up to Heaven. Well, as she was being pulled up and hanging tightly onto that onion, another poor soul grabbed onto her feet, and she looked down and yelled, "Let go, this is MY onion.", and suddenly the onion disappeared and she fell back into Hell. It's quite the reminder for us when thinking a singular act of generosity will lift us all the higher, isn't it?

Tonight's One-liner is: Salvation can't be bought or sold.
